Best album from the ILM 2010s decade album poll that received only ONE top 3 weighted vote

Sometimes music tastes can be so singular, so focused, or perhaps so stubborn, that a single person, and only that person, would love an album so much as to be the only one to vote for it in their top 3 for an entire decade. This poll lets you decide whether that laser beam of passion is full of fortune or folly.

I like this idea, could we do it for the tracks poll?

I'm surprised I'm not in this poll - my #2 was Kuedo's Severant, and one other voter put that on their ballot. Bless you, other voter.

If I had remembered to vote, would Gigi Masin be in this list?

I way prefer T,IAY to Shaking The Habitual fwiw. Voting Oviri, ofc

imago, Friday, 26 August 2022 19:31 (one year ago) link

Voted for SubRosa but also a fan of Oviri, Garten der Unbewusstheit and Tomorrow, in a Year. Probably more albums I love here than in the actual list.

No purposes. Sounds. (Sund4r), Friday, 26 August 2022 19:45 (one year ago) link

I'd be interested how many of you know more than a few of these. Recognize many of the names but think I've only heard a couple. Will dabble before voting.

it would give some people the opportunity to vote for Wizkid’s “Ojuelegba”!

Hour Logic (my #2) has been off Spotify for years now, reasons unclear as it was on it for its first few years since release. It's not provocative like Quarantine, nor as curiously desolate as much of her mid-10s techno work, just ambient techno at its quixotic best - the title track a Detroit homage (or at least comes off as) so deep layered, warm and fluid without sounding as tho straight out of the 90s itself.

For the record Blake Mills album appears in some places as Break Mirrors but in others (including Spotify) as s/t

I had Talk to the Sea in my top 10

I second the motion to do this for the tracks poll, not least because my own number 1 would qualify

Damien Jurado - The Horizon Just Laughed (2nd)
Hop Along - Painted Shut (3rd)

would have voted for both of these had i participated. been listening to the damien jurado a lot lately so going with that

Sun Araw

Autre ne Veut was one of mine. For a while it was my album of the decade. It's still one of the most fun albums I know. I love the way the first absurdly big chorus arrives, like, twenty seconds into the album. It does not waste time.

re: Sun Araw, I voted for Icon Give Thank, but in the 2010s On Duty/Boat Trip, On Patrol, Ancient Romans, and Belomanciewere also all great I thought

Oops, forgot to throw mine (Frida Hyvönen) a vote. Feels like an album ILM could be into! It was huge for me but seems to have barely existed in the wider world. I'm still not sure why she completely stopped getting coverage in the US after Silence is Wild (a situation that continues to wreak havoc: during the poll I stumbled upon her new one from last year).
