Provenza should have a thread of its own, it's phenomenal

"Diamantes" is extremely my thing, thank you! Early summer jam.
here's another pop song that's lighting up my May: Tove Lo's "No One Dies From Love"

Yeah really like “Provenza”.
Bad Bunny’s new album filled with potential summer jams.
Particularly fond of “andrea” because I really like how he mixed the Buscabulla sound into his own.
Both “provenza” and “andrea” remind me of “passionfruit”

yeah it's that low key vibe, the sound of being completely at ease at a party, very well executed
"andrea" is great, thanks for the recommendation!

Find it interesting how Bad Bunny is on it’s way to be the #2 most streamed artist of all time on spotify and there are still countries like the UK where he is virtually unknown. He’d probably dethrone Drake as the most streamed artist of all time if he cared about doing singles/collabs in english a la Shakira.
Fun fact I learned yesterday: apparently he is the biggest indie artist working today (and probably one of the biggest of all time). He ditched big labels in 2018 and has been managed and signed to an indie label (Rimas Entertainment) from puerto rico ever since.

reminds me when I travelled in India and people could not believe I was not familiar with SRK, which of course I became, but yeah you can grow up in European mainstream culture and just never be exposed to stars that are ubiquitous in other territories
feel like probably young people in Europe would be familiar with Bad Bunny

i find the YouTube top 100 global list a helpful mental corrective to "what's big":

Yeah, I would have never guessed that Rammstein was able to draw this level of global attention in 2022. I was fourteen when I was listening to Mutter and Live aus Berlin on my brand new blinking stereo. It lasted less than a year, I can't imagine how they endured 20 more years for the rest of my generation.I was also surprised to find that the video for 'Calm Down' was top 50 in my country (Switzerland) while our African diaspora is like 1% and almost none of it English-speaking.Also by pretending I'm based in South Africa I'm using the YT trending feature to follow the scene there, just like I occasionally check the top Shazamed.Basically juggling with algorithms, I understand music fans who consider it a plague, but it's fascinating at social level and in terms of "taste formation".
