for those of you who have never listened to them (and also those who have):P
new album is called Plonk, and it's got X Plonks on it, Plonk I through Plonk X. Plonk VII and Plonk X, in particular, i found especially good on my first two listens. listening to I again now, on headphones, it's all about the rustling bottom of the snare noises).
i'm not sure it's the best entryway for those of you have never listened to them before, though, because that would be the 2106 stone cold classic For Those Of You Who Have Never (And Also Those Who Have), which i think was the last music they put out until Plonk (?). i'm trying to remember where i first came upon Huerco S. probably one of the ILX ambient threads. but i remember that what first stood out was the in media res editing style/sequencing of that album, where instead of fading in or slowly building up to the bliss, the songs would just abruptly dive straight in and linger there at a certain depth for a several minutes, then, just as suddenly, move to the next track. it's a cool trick, but it never feels like a gimmick because the actual songs are so good!
also, a kansas musician, shoutout to KS

He’s released two albums as Pendant since FTOYWHN, the first one in particular is very enjoyable. I’ve only heard Plonk once so far, the first track didn’t click with me, it sounded like a more random autechre imitation and I was about to switch it off, but thankfully got distracted and forgot to change it because the rest was great. Much mote varied than the first
My one gripe - I love me some paratext so I thought naming all the tracks plonk was a bit lazy.

yeah, i'm not a huge fan of the first few tracks. i think part of the flow of the new one is that it starts out scattered and out of time - not in a beatless sense or ambient sounding way, more like in a gradually accumulating way...i don't it's hard to explain, but at any rate it hits kind of a more "modern electronic" with a pulse thing for a few songs in the middle, which is ok but not something i usually spending a lot of time with, but then from VII on, that's just gorgeous imo

The Pendant album from last year was very nice too. A wee bit darker than his previous ambient work but not full on dark ambient

Kind of generic dub techno stylistically I guess, but still. Great bass.

The filter disco track on that same ep was also really classy.

New one isn't quite hitting me yet – although the backhalf has grabbed me more, and Karl, your assessment of the scattered nature of the front-half sounds spot on. I suspect it will require more active listening on my part in order to gel...
Really enjoy both Pendant releases. Got a new-ish setup in my basement that has acoustic paneling/etc. and these sound fantastic in a 'sound bubble' as I call it.

enjoyed this record but not sure it quite gripped me, VI highlight on first listen

new one has really taken me by surprise. the ambient records have always struck me as being fine but never really stuck with me either. the idm detour on plonk is way more to my liking. it feels a bit like autechre lp5 melodies (esp tracks like “cork”) but with much of the rest of that sound taken out or muted. plus having one weird backpacker hiphop experiment that im not sure if i like but do respect being on there is also very 90s idm.

yeah it’s really great, maybe his best, but i hate the rap feature. it’s so bad. like run across the room and hit skip bad. but the atmosphere of vaguely concurrent bliss and unease is really unique and hard to pull off. its also really detailed but not in an overly trebly, ableton pyrotechnics way

also his record under the name Loidis is totally awesome and seems to be unmentioned here. his most dancey effort
