well, I was immediately second-guessing myself for dropping atonement (which is such a specific sound so unique to them) but.. it's fantastic. I don't think you'll be disappointed if you like those two things.

A friend asked me about songs re: death w non-English lyrics, and I--overloaded? Plain blanked? German, Greek, Scand tongues, other--suggestions please! Would be good if "Death" in title, but not strictly nec.

I don't think it got the warmest reception but I actually really liked their last one specifically for the way it integrated some discouraged ones-isms into their core death doom sound. well, that's basically all gone but this one's fun too!

Omg great recc on Cosmic Putrefaction

The new Kreator album, out in two weeks, is really good. I'm a huge fan — I even like their "weird" late '90s albums — but this one sounds both clean and massive at the same time; quality production really brings out the aggression of the riffs. Lyrically, it's the same old same old (are people really still writing songs called "Killer of Jesus" in 2022?) but musically it's absolutely crushing.

Anyway, Conor and Brian from Astra have a new band, Birth, their debut album just went up for pre-order. Haven't heard the single yet, but really dug their three song demo from last year. I'm excited.

Has anyone seen any sort of official acknowledgement from the festival organizers? (I haven't.) The situation wasn't their fault or anything like that, it just seems odd not to at least acknowledge what happened and pay respects. The guy was a metalhead, it wasn't just some random fluke occurrence.

I didn't see it from them directly, but I wasn't watching closely. I learned of it from a fan who was basically telling everybody due to the impact on traffic o_O

There's a new Amon Amarth song and video...and it's got a whole lot of guns and Mad Max-ish vehicles in it. It seems like a pretty big miscalculation, in the season of The Northman, for them to decide that now's the time to come for Five Finger Death Punch's spot. I doubt it'll work out for them.

Listened to that Heaving Earth on Bandcamp and liked it a lot.

RIP Ken Kelly, the painter who suckered so many kids into listening to Kiss's Destroyer. He also painted covers for Rainbow's Rising and about 16 Manowar albums.

Saw Voivod last night. They were really great; Snake especially just seems pumped to be out and playing again. They played songs from all across their catalogue.
