weirdly I know very little of this list, which I would chalk up to 2016 being a terrible dumpster fire year which made me want to hide from the world.

oh fuck missed that YG song.

blonde is still excellent, nights is a highlight but about half of these songs are good to great and I didn't remember it as such an amazing year for music, did the critics just pick better this time

Drone Bomb Me doesn't feel any less tasteless and misguided than it did at the time

Scratch that, "Drunk Drivers/Killer Whales" gets it.

That whole Whitney album was excellent, though i prefer the other single "No Matter Where We Go" to the one listed here. What is that effect the vocalist often uses? Or does he naturally sing in octaves?

this was the first time that the Spotify actually changed my mind on my initial pick. i was going to go with the 1975 breakthrough single "Somebody Else" but instead i'm voting for "You Want It Darker." that song just goes with 2016 and very surprised by my pick. i also think "Into You" probably went into that second slot with the 1975 dropping to number three.
