The subject of an infamous 1.3 Pitchfork rating and graphic-aided review: https://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/2135-daft-club/

honestly it may be the best review they ever wrote

i don't think i've heard any of these but "Too Long (Gonzales Version)" sounds particularly unpromising

I don’t know any of these - maybe the last one if it’s the same one as in the Discovery album.

The idea of an acoustic version of “one more time” does sound terrible tbh

love the Gonzales version of Too Long that I first heard, which was live at a Gonzales show in a sticky-carpeted rock pub

stilt in the wings (sic), Tuesday, 23 February 2021 05:51 (one week ago) link

that’s a hell of a pull quote

I've never even heard this album, but that Pitchfork review still sounds like rockists not understanding the point of remixes.

FPed everybody for doing this today

that review has the r-word in it and is still on their website, wow

They hated Discovery too!

Dlugosch's mix of DL is the best mix IMO, always loved it.

piscesx, Tuesday, 23 February 2021 11:51 (one week ago) link

Shame this wasn't part of the package tbh

The Breakers Break mix of Harder Better Faster Stronger also

The Gonzales version of Too Long is fantastic, and I possibly prefer it over the original.

MarkoP, Tuesday, 23 February 2021 13:29 (one week ago) link

The Neptunes remix is awesome!

Agreed, love this one.

that pitchfork review is very fucked up

mellon collie and the infinite bradness (BradNelson), Tuesday, 23 February 2021 16:21 (one week ago) link

overall this album is better than I remembered! Maybe the poll should have been "best track".

It's okay, has some decent moments. I'm trying to think of a genuinely amazing remix album in this vein (remixes of a band/album rather than remixes by a band), but having trouble. I guess I like Telegram by Bjork quite a lot.

Not amazing but the Depeche Mode remix albums were pretty good

groovypanda, Tuesday, 23 February 2021 16:54 (one week ago) link

oh yeah i thought about those, but the ones i had (early 2000s) had a lot of Tiesto-style trancey guff IIRC

Party With A Jagger Ban (dog latin), Tuesday, 23 February 2021 18:00 (one week ago) link

The one I had had a pretty great lineup of remixers: Underworld, Dave Clarke, Portishead, DJ Shadow, Ulrich Schnauss, Kruder & Dorfmeister, Tenaglia, Kevorkian et al

Funny that the best track won the poll for the worst track.
