This is a little aggro for me these days, but Pixelord is an o.g. and there are some really cool moments (like the end of 'Whoooosh'):

I'm feeling the double-time 100bpm, I know I've heard the first track on a mix or two:

Ok 2021, here we go, Byrell the Great x Precious EP, banging yet slick ballroom:

Ok, big Bandcamp Friday >>>

DJ Swisha - Clout Psychosis
https://djswisha.bandcamp.com/album/clout-psychosis
Reliably fun & mixable as always. Is that cover from Shadowrun? Love it.

Bored Lord - Rave Toolz
https://boredlord.bandcamp.com/album/rave-toolz
Exactly what it sounds like, breaks & diva vocals. Sounds simple enough but it's a cool concept: "these songs are one part edit, one part blend, one part an experiment in sampling. for each track i first paired two sample-heavy classic rave break tunes based on them sharing keys, samples, or tempos. then i dissected the songs by sample source to recreate the tracks from scratch. later i blended them together on top of rhythms and basslines i made up."

A hot club beat from Dave Quam:
https://davequam.bandcamp.com/album/snare-screams

A new 15 track full-length from Color Plus, who put out those amazing New York Dance Music comps:
https://colorplus.bandcamp.com/album/torpid

Obeka - Drum Core
https://djobeka-music.bandcamp.com/album/drum-core
Some Afro-Caribbean drum tracks that sound a little bit kuduro, a little bit South African

change display name (Jordan), Friday, 5 February 2021 16:10 (two months ago) link

And I hate to do this so early in the thread, but my album is out today too:
https://chants.bandcamp.com/album/poly-pointillism

Minimal obsessively rhythmic kalimba pieces that are most beatless, but nevertheless meant to be mixed with dance music. I think it might appeal to the Workaround fans on this thread. :)

change display name (Jordan), Friday, 5 February 2021 16:17 (two months ago) link

loving that Obeka single, especially “Aye Gombey!”

would probably fit well in a dog latin mix

It's good! Thank you for the heads up

Party With A Jagger Ban (dog latin), Sunday, 7 February 2021 21:11 (two months ago) link

New Rian Treanor EP is typically wild:
https://riantreanor.bandcamp.com/album/obstacle-scattering

Lots of records I'm anticipating in the near future -

Tristan Arp:
https://tristanarp.bandcamp.com/album/oddkin

object blue on TT:
https://tobagotracks.bandcamp.com/album/grotto

And most definitely Sunareht's LP, who is like a grittier & more fun version of Lorenzo Senni: https://sunareht.bandcamp.com/album/amorama

Cool! I'll have to check out those other Obeka releases. And Slink. And agreed yeah, Bored Lord's releases have been ridiculously prolific and high-quality during the pandemic.

This came out today:
https://infinitemachine.bandcamp.com/album/im086-laughing-ears-blood
Laughing Ears - Blood (hi-def Norse-themed rhythms, kind of reminds me of amazondotcom but more off-kilter)

And I put out an EP of club versions:

I don't think so, but I'm always up for meeting new music people here! It's a very small community.

(and thanks <3)

I'll try to put y'all in touch. It's sometimes hard to know what his headspace is like because...well, the last five years of his life have been marked by tragedy heaped on tragedy. Can't imagine what he's been through. But we used to make music together, and he's a sweetheart who is into the sort of stuff yr into! He's friends with Joel (Golden Donna), if that gives any context.

it's like edging for your mind (the table is the table), Tuesday, 2 March 2021 18:31 (one month ago) link

Ah, ok cool.

(should probably take this off ilx but this is a different person than Dav1d L@st, who also moved back here from Oakland for awhile for tragic reasons, and is friends with J03l, right?)

James Bangura is so prolific & good.

A couple new hmurd tracks messing around with meter & time sig, love the sound design:

Also new Osheyack & Nahash on Svbkvlt next month, love the preview track:

I wonder how the Bandcamp ban has been affecting them, if they're using VPNs out getting someone outside China to administer it or what.

change display name (Jordan), Thursday, 4 March 2021 17:22 (one month ago) link

I would imagine it’s not a big deal. the label founder is an expat from the UK. if in-country sales are a thing, that’d probably be via different channels. is it just that the site is inaccessible, or does the government try to block money transfers?

mh, Friday, 5 March 2021 03:28 (one month ago) link

I think it's the former, no idea about the latter.

Soooo many Bandcamp emails today (as expected)!

Ok here we go:

Loris on Subreal
https://subreal.bandcamp.com/album/rastros
Full release isn't out yet, but sounds very DJ Plead (with more kick drum)

new Kirk Barley ambient EP
https://kirkbarley.bandcamp.com/album/lake-of-gold-primer

new Bored Lord EP (of course)
https://boredlord.bandcamp.com/album/lavirga
Breaks galore

MM - Massive Music
https://eventhestrong.bandcamp.com/album/massive-music
This one is really fun, drums for days. Billed as DDM = dumb dance music, lol.

object blue - Grotto (TT)
https://tobagotracks.bandcamp.com/album/grotto
Still digesting this but it's cool, love the last vocal cut-up track. She did an NTS show only playing stems from it and talking about them, that was unique.

Dave Quam
https://davequam.bandcamp.com/album/groundscore-b-w-pink-line-beat
Fun two tracker, I'm getting Dance Mania vibes (which have been hitting the spot for me, going through old mixtapes on youtube lately)

Checking this Indonesian label out based on a Ch@l Ravens rec, there are some pretty crazy records on their bandcamp:
https://yesnowave.bandcamp.com/album/alkisah-dikisahkan
(also Slikback and Gabber Modus Operandi on that comp)

Enjoying the new Mr. Mitch album:
https://mrmitch.bandcamp.com/album/lazy

It sounds sort of early '10s in a good way.

change display name (Jordan), Wednesday, 10 March 2021 15:37 (one month ago) link

The new ZULI EP got released a day early, and it's certainly not as weird as his previous material, definitely more indebted to jungle and d'n'b, but it's really hitting the damn spot.

it's like edging for your mind (the table is the table), Thursday, 11 March 2021 19:35 (one month ago) link

Can't wait to check that.

Also out today, shiny dancehall/flex EP on Nervous Horizon:
https://nervoushorizon.bandcamp.com/album/sim-terminate-ep

This one is a curiosity, Jaf Ge Nos - Un Discorsetto EP:
https://nostrohoodsystem.bandcamp.com/album/un-discorsetto-ep
Long tracks that are almost like medleys or overtures, sort of reminds me of the weirder material on HudMo's Butter. Technicolor and silly, going in and out of beats and jazzy free-time interludes, sounds like it was made by a keyboardist.

change display name (Jordan), Friday, 12 March 2021 18:38 (one month ago) link

That Jaf Ne Gos is excellent, thank you Jordan.

NKC collaboration with Nabalayo, a Kenyan singer/producer:

Sunareht's LP is out today, I think it's a stunner (adds to his whole weightless house chords thing without losing what makes it special):

stupidly a day late with this, but k wata has released the EP that those above tracks teased; opener 8 UP is my fave i think. sorta sneaking a bit of IDM in there with the restless quality of it all but retaining the more chilled-out dubby thing that i like
