I was gonna order the Mayhem EP that just was released but for some reason Century media is asking $18 for a seven-song EP with only one new song and four punk covers that combined take up less than eight minutes. So fuck that.

It is not including shipping at the Century Media site. It does come with free shipping through Amazon at the same price assuming you have Prime or tack on enough stuff for free shipping from them.

So, I am ashamed to admit that I am only just now getting around to Thy Catafalque, despite seeing you folks hyping his stuff for awhile now. Glad I finally did though, Vadak is just so gloriously bonkers and insane, I absolutely love it.

The song definitely has a Dio-ish feel. I've hated AWK for 20 years but all three videos from this album have been freakish and fascinating, and honestly I'm kinda curious about the whole thing in a way I have never been about any of his previous work. He's going for a very explicit cosmic-horror/cult-initiation vibe here that reminds me of movies like Beyond the Black Rainbow and Devil's Candy, and I'm into it.

New Dola (BC link upthread) is excellent, don't sleep on it if you enjoyed last year's s/t.

This Ghastly album is hitting the spot. Organic-sounding psychedelic death metal that flows really nicely on the strength of the riffs.

this is less money than I spent on the Z2 Comics Among the Living Graphic Novel/vinyl re-release/gold record deluxe set that STILL HASN'T ARRIVED mroe than a year after I ordered it.

It is kind of funny that there are two discs of "Live & Rare" with a total of 25 songs, of which... checks again... a grand total of 1 is "rare" and not "live".

I want all that live stuff. And respect to them for including all the Ripper Owens-era albums. But while I can absolutely afford this object, I will not be purchasing it.

I know this kind of comparison isn't always useful or helpful and doesn't take into consideration the box and other items, you'd think they could have done a little better than $11.30 per disc.

Just getting around to checking out the Yautja, which is indeed very good. I had to laugh when I saw this very otm and prescient post from the 2014 rolling metal thread since they are indeed now signed to relapse and I indeed had not heard them until now:

Necromantical Invocation is a project for Echetleos, who has played in a bunch of groups in Greece, most notably Caedes Cruenta. A demo that was only on cassette Dogme et Rituel de la Haute Magie was released by Belgian label Zombi Danz Records in February and was just given a CD/LP release by Helter Skelter Productions/Regain Records, which promises to grant it a bigger audience.

It's pretty unique, with spooky Gothic cornerstones supporting noir-ish avant garde black metal. It's essentially two long, grandiose songs with a shorter intro and outro cut bookending the EP. "Necromantical Ritual" is plodding with pleqasantly cheese synths while the title track is laden with baroque piano and supple bass. Pretty interesting!

Metal Church Facebook just posted that vocalist Mike Howe passed away. Sucks.
