I have a box full of the old premiums I always mean to get out; I wonder if any of them have succumbed to CD-R rot.

I used to get CD premiums but they mostly just got filed away unlistened-to. Now I just build up my t-shirt collection.

But I've been digging the station and the streams more than ever* this past year and will probably bump my swag for life number up a bit.

*even with the steady increase in DJs who play music I like but whose mic breaks are interminable bores

Huge fan of the CD premiums and glad they are still offered. Many have become beloved comps for me. I think the oldest ones I have are from 2006 and still seem to play fine.

Last year I allocated my donation to the seven 3 AM - 6 AM shows just to show them some love.

A couple of years ago, I gave my whole Mouse pledge to Hearty White for dropping the word "chinodontia" without explanation (an obscure reference to the show "Fernwood Tonight"). Kenneth Mars lives!

I guess it's a data-security thing? How tempting would it be to volunteer to work the phones under a fake name, collect a bunch of CC info and go hog wild.

Other public radio stations do it, but maybe WFMU knows its volunteers too well...

For the pledges that come in by phone, it's sometimes hard to hear even the basic info. (I've tried to do it with Tom Scharpling emceeing next to me.)
