"jogging" being top 10 is the sort of thing that feels just plausible enough for it to happen? i thought 2020 was generally not as well liked as peasant though so it would still be very surprising to me
― ufo, Monday, 27 January 2020 11:21 (four years ago) link
I don't like 2020 as much as Peasant but I certainly wish I'd voted for Jogging, as it's a stellar anthem.

It's getting a lot of points from our house and has quite a few fans elsewhere. It'll definitely make the 77. Have you heard Splendor & Misery yet btw? That's high on my decade list let alone 2016Yeah I've gone back through their catalog and listened to everything once, which is why I said on Twitter:FYI I think I am prepared to declare @clppng artists of the decade— DJP (@djperry1973) December 20, 2019

I listened to Addiction to Blood once or twice and liked it but wasn't taken with it like I was the second clipping. album, which I still consider just totally jaw-dropping and which easily makes any end-of-decade list of mine (& which I prob still under-rate tbh). I wonder if clipping. is just one of those bands where the first one you hear will always be your favourite

Then again, I skipped S&M for really dumb reasons so I'm willing to accept as just any gasfaces DJP or imago are making towards my general vicinity

willling to bet Jogging'll be top ten
― doorstep jetski (dog latin), Monday, 27 January 2020 11:58 (four years ago) link
I have no idea what "Jogging" is? Googling it doesn't help much either.

It's a Richard Dawson song. It's got guitars.

And lyrics o_O
Not my thing, then.
― Tuomas, Monday, 27 January 2020 12:06 (four years ago) link
Pom, you didn't vote for it either? An LJ flogging is due ;_;

xp lol vmic
Let's save this for Thursday, folks

Hmm, looking at by tracks ballot, 12 of 25 do have lyrics, so maybe they are my thing after all?

"at MY tracks ballot"

'Jogging' is a little too… prosaic for my liking, and unintentionally makes me feel even more alienated from English culture. Nothing Important is the only Dawson I genuinely love (and 'Hob').

(Sorry, LJ.)

Lol this is why I never got into Nothjng Important (though I sometimes wonder if the title track had made tracks poll instead of Vile Stuff)
I don't remember if I voted for Jogging, but I think I might have

Wow I'm super overdue for a vow of silence

au contraire you certainly ought to post more!

I wonder how the Sault vote held up. No mention of them here, but much excitement on dedicated thread. The potential for vote-splitting looked kinda extreme though.

lol ok
The Highwomen win both the tracks and albums polls. All good here? Cool. Thanks for voting everyone. 👍
― Johnny Fever, Monday, 27 January 2020 14:20 (four years ago) link
Nothing Important is like a conjuring for me but I couldn't get on with Peasant or 2020.
(Would be happy with the Highwomen clearing up, tbh. As it were.)

What are the Highwomen.
― pomenitul, Monday, 27 January 2020 14:24 (four years ago) link
Ok but have you even listened to it? I know how you feel about anything even vaguely country, but the songwriting is soooo good.
― Johnny Fever, Monday, 27 January 2020 14:25 (four years ago) link
I did. It sucked.
― totally unnecessary bewbz of exploitation (DJP), Monday, 27 January 2020 14:27 (four years ago) link

― totally unnecessary bewbz of exploitation (DJP), Monday, 27 January 2020 14:28 (four years ago) link
Well now I *really* hope it does well.
― Johnny Fever, Monday, 27 January 2020 14:28 (four years ago) link
The tune Redesigning Women is so full of regressive stereotypes about women (Changing our minds like we change our hair color + And if the shoe fits, we're gonna buy 11 + Running the world while we're cleaning up the kitchen) that I was actually quite taken aback considering that it's supposed to be a song about...redesigning women. What the song was trying to do was so far from what it achieved that it turned me off checking out the rest of the project. Open to suggestions if there's better songs on there.
― triggercut, Monday, 27 January 2020 14:37 (four years ago) link
"Cocktail and a Song" is the keeper for me.
― bold caucasian eroticism (Simon H.), Monday, 27 January 2020 14:38 (four years ago) link
Redesigning Women is the only song on the album I routinely skip. I haven't heard it in a long time.
― Johnny Fever, Monday, 27 January 2020 14:40 (four years ago) link
I love country but I did not like the Highwomen album at all. Mostly I didn't like the singing, too mannered.
― juntos pedemos (Euler), Monday, 27 January 2020 14:43 (four years ago) link
I wish they done more harmony work and less just all singing the same melody at once much of the time, but 10 of the 12 songs on the album are exactly my vibe. If they'd ditched Redesigning Women and My Only Child, I'd consider it perfect.
― Johnny Fever, Monday, 27 January 2020 14:51 (four years ago) link
so is Moka doing the rollout then
― opden gnash (imago), Monday, 27 January 2020 14:55 (four years ago) link
Moka is keeping to their own timeline here. plz be patient as no set time to start was ever announced.
― Fuck the NRA (ulysses), Monday, 27 January 2020 15:00 (four years ago) link
we should just wait another year to start the rollout, for a laugh.
