Rap's Best Guests

Not a poll but a place to discuss rappers who most consistently shine on others' songs. I always love Devin The Dude and Jadakiss guest spots but, for longevity and adaptability, Scarface is my top choice.

Yeah, Jay is mostly solid when featured but the only albums of his I still enjoy are Reasonable Doubt and Volume 3. Drake is another though his albums are a non-starter for me. I suspect that this thread will skew ‘90s.

Haha, I misread your post. Come to think of it, Jay stunk up plenty of guest spots, ‘Ha’ maybe the most egregious.

if Andre 3000 only ever featured, he’d have a respectable career. I’ll say the same for Project Pat

Yes, lots of YouTubes, please. Tip is great and I probably first heard him on ‘Groove is in the Heart’. Stupidly, I still hold my teenage resentment that he flipped the ‘Drink Away the Pain’ concept to fashion (though understandable as he’d recently become Muslim).

Both Bun B and Pimp C for a while. Luda of course had a glorious few years.

It always cracks me up hearing Master P doing his best to ruin Bun B’s verse on here a couple minutes in.

I couldn't ever really take a full album of Busta but love him as a guest

luda and busta were big personality dudes who could grate over the course of a project but were amazing in 16-bar doses.

lil wayne had a year (pre-CIII) where he challenged himself to say yes to every guest verse offer. the songs were a mixed bag, but wayne was usually on point.

Oh yeah, Tragedy is the star of The War Report. Also, Cappadonna for Winter Warz though I guess he’s a feature on all Wu stuff. I’ve wondered if the other Wu members were annoyed by the number of times that Cap’s name appears on the Forever track list.

Cool Breeze never really got anywhere solo but he’s great on “Dirty South” and “Decatur Psalm.”

I thought of Redman but for me he's like E40, v consistent no matter what

meth is def a guy who was better on guest verse. a lot of his solo work was excellent, but he really shines on other people's tracks (the what, buck 50, etc.)

"Watch For the Hook" is classic but he does kind of feel like a guest on his own song, that's a good album though
