Easily Slowdive for me from this batch. Still find "Souvlaki" a remarkable record.

voted Bee Thousand but holy shit i love a lot of that list. i've always preferred Sleeps With Angels to Ragged Glory which seems to get the critical love. that title track!

Nirvana Unplugged. I listened to it for the first time in a while the other night and it is still so unbelievably chilling and beautiful.

disappointed you let the haters get to you. no need for two polls imo, the other list is more interesting anyway

Tough choice between Crooked Rain, Downward Spiral, and Dummy.
Hard To Earn also deserves a mention.

I saw Kyuss live twice in 1994 - at the Borderline and the Underworld. The Underworld gig is probably still the single best live gig I've seen. It was hot and hallucinatory and one abiding memory is Scott Reeder wandering dazed into the crowd at the end and noticing his feet were like hobbits' feet.

Souvlaki over Dummy and Nirvana Unplugged. Like these 3 better than the choices in 1994 part 1 poll.

― frame casual (dog latin), Tuesday, 30 July 2019 09:54 (four years ago) link
there's no wayI can choose between IllComm, SAWII, Parklife, Crooked Rain, Sky Valley and Dookie
Weird to thin the first Korn album came out at this time. To give them credit, they were far ahead of the curve.
― frame casual (dog latin), Tuesday, 30 July 2019 09:58 (four years ago) link
*think
Was that the first ever nu-metal album?
yes, Kerrang gave them the nu metal label pretty much straight away then started trying to hype it up over the next few years until it took off
― Thus Spoke Darraghustra (Oor Neechy), Tuesday, 30 July 2019 10:54 (four years ago) link
On new years day 1995 I would definitely have said Bee Thousand. Pavement didn't sound nearly cruddy enough anymore, so they couldn't compete. LOL. Had recently been pleasantly surprised by His N Hers too. But I'm pretty sure I voted for Hard to Earn a few days ago. If only because I heard it again quite recently and...totes dug it.

GBV (who Kerr is more of a fan of than me) over SAW II is pretty lame tbh

I'm probably just grumpy and challopsy this morning but I'm going to bring the full wrath of my critical acumen to bear and say that the Pavement consensus on here is boring and conservative. They're boring and conservative.

― All along there is the sound of feedback (Sund4r), Wednesday, 31 July 2019 10:35 (four years ago) link
I love Pavement and could probably honestly say that album ~changed my life~ or something equally hokey, but given the results feel justified in voting for the Magnetic Fields instead, even though some of the songs I thought were on Holiday were actually on one of the previous albums, ahem.
A lot of the tracks on SAWII are great but I've never quite enjoyed it as a whole and would rather sit down and listen to pretty much any other Aphex album, including SAWI. I did expect it to do better, though, as mine seems to be a pretty unusual opinion.
