Eyes for the words. I like to mix in REM lyrics with it sometimes in my head like "seeds that were silent all burst into bloom & decay/ children look up all they hear is sky blue bells ringing"

Anyone else mildly infuriated that Mississippi Half-Step Uptown Toodeloo is not titled Half-Step Mississippi Uptown Toodeloo?

one obvious choice here, especially if we're talking about studio versions

I could easily go for Row Jimmy, Stella Blue or Eyes of the World, and I enjoy Weather Report Suite a lot but probably wouldn't place it above those.

Fuck, I haven't listened to the record in 20 years. I voted based on the platonic ideal of the song that exists in my mind.

I have come to believe that this is the best GD studio album. Only song here not a contender is Keith's (which is still pretty good)

Voted Eyes

It’s a great album. Eyes is my mom’s favorite dead song, I love Jerry’s soloing. I love the Without A Net version with Branford Marsalis too... ends up sounding kinda like “what’s going on/“mercy mercy me”

It always reminds me a lot of What's Going On too.

Row Jimmy, easily. One of my favorite Dead songs--enigmatic, world-weary, and stoic in the most beautiful way. And the studio version has a leg up on most live versions because it's got Keith on both Rhodes and Clavinet.

this is actually my least favorite of their post-aoxomoxoa glory run. it's weather report suite among these for me, the languor is so rich and deep there, and the harmonies swelling...really good stuff to my ear
