In April 2012, Trace Adkins announced that he was backing Mitt Romney in the presidential election. As posted above, there are a whole bunch of "real" country artists, depending on your taste. George Jones, Merle, Willie, Johnny Cash, Hank Sr., Waylon. They just happened to pick the one best known these days for being a reactionary racist.
