North POLL Radio Station - Pram albums

I am in the process of changing over to a new account on ILM, but I wanted to poll the PRAM records as the last one has been in heavy rotation since release. Across the Meridian keeps the aquatic themes of Sargasso Sea and Museum of Imaginary Animals alive, feeling like classic pram and possibly one of their best records ever - even the new singer fits in well with their wheelhouse.

Depending on the roll-out for this one, would be down to do the EPs as well, as often their best work (including remixes) appears on those.

Went with Dark Island, which has the ultimate spaghetti western opener, complete with portishead-esque guitar stabs, but really they are a band that are uniformly good.

Thanks for the long poll time, Ross. i got lots of listening to do it seems. The only things I own by Pram are Helium and the new one and Somniloquy, which I assume you've categorised under EPs, you rockist ;-)

I need to do more digging into their catalog before voting, but the new one gives me something I've fantasized about for years, which is a post-rock album with Tom Waits' junkyard jazz sonics.

hell yeah..man that record feels so lovely and crystalline, play of the waves!

man the new record is moving up in my estimation vs. their entire career

like it has the creepy-bedroom evil eyed-girl vibe the earlier records did as well as the rinse of sargasso-museum

something for everyone really, probably the coolest record this year easily.

NME seem to hate this band, slamming both the moving frontier and their earlier work (at the time) but then..NME.

one month passes...

Buddy (long time pram fan) came by and we played the new one. He had to concede it was one of their best - my only minor gripe is I miss the vocally fronted up beat tracks like play of the waves or owl service
