first album shame is a record i feel v close to as i heard it right before my last breakup. new album magic gone may be even better. remarkable songwriter, great, individual voice. it's indie rock but it's also relentlessly pretty and generous with melody and so often slow and quiet, as if trying v hard to position itself within and portray the intensity of a moment. this song is just the best:

this is gorgeous, 'i'm sorry' and 'stardust' are a couple of my favorite tracks of the year. i definitely prefer the more guitar-driven stuff to the piano-driven ballads at the back, but the singer has an amazing voice and can sell the shit out of them.
