I always enjoy these for some reason.

Inspired by The Cambodian Space Project's very good cover of Iggy Pop's The Passenger which showed up on my spotify discovery playlist this week

I'm sure there are countless great examples of this, was kind of surprised that I couldn't find a thread about it

I don't think it was this recording. In my memory the record goes "Oui, oui, oui," which is very funny if you're a 7-year-old American boy.

Does Frank Sinatra My Way count or was the song rewritten along the way?

Stevolende, Tuesday, 24 April 2018 21:55 (six years ago) link

I'd heard that David Bowie had a new set of English lyrics for the French song Comme d'habitude before Paul Anka came though with the now much better known ones. But wasn't sure to what extent Anka had translated the French song or just taken the main form and constructed something new.

I've always thought it was pretty strange that more bands didn't do what Amen Corner did with (If Paradise) Is Half As Nice and cover big European hits that never really took off in the UK / US.

The Abba in Hindi ep is great. I've got a foreign language reworking of Video Killed The Radio Star somewhere that's amazing but I can't find it or even remember the title or what language it was in. (I want to say Hindi too but I I've got a real suspicion it's African)
