upcoming album on orange milk with the one tune available till feb 2nd

what have you all been enjoying?

nxd, Tuesday, 30 January 2018 15:17 (one year ago) Permalink

fair warning: there will be progge, there will be maximalism

excited to dig into the stuff you've posted!

imago, Tuesday, 30 January 2018 15:18 (one year ago) Permalink

no problems! i guess everything sorta related is welcome :)

there hasn't been too much to talk about for me in the past few months as far as future funk goes, but pop up! (who did the excellent record 'delicious' a couple of years back) have returned with the excellent 'tasty'

nxd, Tuesday, 30 January 2018 15:22 (one year ago) Permalink

I enjoyed having the vaporwave stuff in the 'deriative' thread tbf. But having all this lumped together is fine by me.

it's been a rough couple of years for them (a flood p much destroyed all their equipment iirc) but today is new hookworms day! - couple of tracks there now, it's all on spotify tho

nxd, Friday, 2 February 2018 10:57 (one year ago) Permalink

what the, their last release was only december 27 but it looks like t e l e p a t h & Agia have another new release

nxd, Friday, 2 February 2018 11:38 (one year ago) Permalink

& another friday release!

Noah Creshevsky - Reanimator LP is out now! "modern classical sensibility and exhilarating computer collage."

(Mollusc - Anxiety)

emil.y, Friday, 2 February 2018 15:35 (one year ago) Permalink

well, that was amazing

seems to be off a record from 2k15 which i shall now listen to...

nxd, Friday, 2 February 2018 15:46 (one year ago) Permalink

Yeah, the video's from this year and I think they're releasing it *as a record* this year, but it was from a tape from 2015?

emil.y, Friday, 2 February 2018 16:14 (one year ago) Permalink

ah sweet, yeh the rest of the album was a lot more cold wavey & still awesome

nxd, Friday, 2 February 2018 16:20 (one year ago) Permalink

i see mukqs has a new album out (electro, glitchy idm)

really dug 'walkthrough' in 2016

it's a bit tricky to find but here it is up on youtubes

nxd, Monday, 5 February 2018 17:14 (one year ago) Permalink

Holy shit the new Katie Dey is gonna be the best thing ever. nxd I made her the patron saint of time travel or attention deficit or whatever last year - you HAVE to check out Flood Network, it's a classic album already and this new one is an exciting left-turn from it

imago, Monday, 5 February 2018 17:45 (one year ago) Permalink

will do!

nxd, Monday, 5 February 2018 18:19 (one year ago) Permalink

New Katie Dey is sounding beautiful. Loved what I was hearing of the . . . . . album too!

sorry ^ new HKE!

nxd, Sunday, 11 February 2018 15:22 (one year ago) Permalink

I'm a fan of atmosphere and hke has created some beautiful work but this one is kind of noisy and heavy. Still, I'm happy he's releasing music again. The last stuff of his that I really dug was the second half of 'dragon soul'

calstars, Sunday, 11 February 2018 16:34 (one year ago) Permalink

yeh the hardvapor stuff i find harsh on my brain at times

you guys may have missed this, but Machine Girl put out a nice little mixtape at the tail end of last year, basically containing all the stuff that didn't make it to his full length. Mostly instrumental, fun trance/acid/hardcore/jungle and if you weren't totally down w/his scream vox, it may be right up your alley. (no sound here, but it's on youtube)

Some heroic person has split this out into individual tracks w/individual artwork too, and I have the entire thing on my phone (have probably listened to as much or more than Because I'm Arrogant...)!ACAkVRyR!8jKLFsyN130H0XVkIT2dAg

Dominique, Thursday, 15 February 2018 14:38 (one year ago) Permalink

I think I mostly like Machine Girl because of the screaming, but I will definitely check this out.

tried to save UKHH.
moved to LA.
realised that some canadian bloke was the guru he needed.
made some vapourwave mixtapes to soundtrack the vocals of the guru.
result : crap.
however, i am clearly not target audience so this could be high quality vapourwave ..

jerusalem in my heart - daqa'iq tudaiq

that jerusalem in my heart lp is fab and not one I'd expect on this thread, but I don't really understand this thread tbf!

been listening to Moon Relay - IMI today, twangy, proggy sequencer artrock type stuff, not bad!

Ooh, that sounds promising.

emil.y, Tuesday, 27 November 2018 14:18 (four months ago) Permalink

Also, this almost certainly doesn't belong in this thread but it doesn't belong in the punk or indie threads either, and it's one of my favourite things of this year, so... time travel gets it:

(I'm thinking about starting a "rolling DIY" thread for next year, for independent music of all stripes, b/c I don't really feel I have a home for very much stuff that I like)

emil.y, Tuesday, 27 November 2018 14:25 (four months ago) Permalink

i think think thats a great idea

this is rad, love the unheimlich style of the video & the eeriness that starts around 2m30

they got a page for updates or a bandcamp etc? google only brings up bands with the same name and "5 Musical Artists Who Got Their Start on 'Grey's Anatomy'"

nxd, Tuesday, 27 November 2018 14:35 (four months ago) Permalink

i checked the latter just in case but they werent on there

nxd, Tuesday, 27 November 2018 14:40 (four months ago) Permalink

Ah, yeah, you have to search for them including "Leicester" (where they're from) or you'll just get nothing.

Am really enjoying that Muqata'a album so far.

emil.y, Tuesday, 27 November 2018 14:44 (four months ago) Permalink

Totally euphoric and hysterical bitpop from emamouse. It's all over the place in its inventiveness, but also extremely listenable.

imago, Saturday, 1 December 2018 22:00 (four months ago) Permalink

I think this is appropriate? RYM sez it's deconstructed club/electro-industrial, which translates as rapidly tranforming digital landscapes
