Great song, voted this high on the back of the amazing 80s italo style initial talk remix but the original is undeniable too. Album great as well

it's been a weird year xp

I like CXCX just fine, but this is the weirdest #1 in this poll since "Wut."

I was strongly opposed to Simon's views on music videos until I watched some of that Tove Lo one

lol weren't his "views" merely "wait people still watch music videos?" *clicks on despacito as the 4,739,219,210th viewer*

can't remember we ever had a tracks poll where after #2 ppl still had no idea what #1 would be

The bass drop (?) in New Rules is the one of the most perfect things ever devised.

a shadow of her former self :(
― nashwan, Thursday, 25 January 2018 19:26 (six years ago) link
well that kinda blows but otherwise great list everyone
I'm stunned @ no SZA, holy crap
― Simon H., Thursday, 25 January 2018 19:27 (six years ago) link
We should be glad she chose to sing about Boys rather than Republicans.
― MarkoP, Thursday, 25 January 2018 19:27 (six years ago) link
SZA better win albums to make up for this
― ufo, Thursday, 25 January 2018 19:27 (six years ago) link
lots of diversity lots of quality, shame it inevitably petered out a bit at the end

i don't even think "boys" is a bad song but the video soured me on it so bad
― flamenco drop (BradNelson), Thursday, 25 January 2018 19:28 (six years ago) link
I'm giving "Boys" another chance but before today it wasn't even in my top 10 Charli XCX tracks
― daavid, Thursday, 25 January 2018 19:28 (six years ago) link

― josh az (2011nostalgia), Thursday, 25 January 2018 19:28 (six years ago) link
lol same amount of votes
list is super thin on rnb in general, though my tracks ballot is as much to blame as anyone's. I assume all the rnb albums I voted for will place
― rob, Thursday, 25 January 2018 19:29 (six years ago) link
Huh, I really had no idea Boys was this popular. Thought to myself SZA would win for sure.
― abcfsk, Thursday, 25 January 2018 19:29 (six years ago) link
Is this the whole "ilxors voting on autopilot" thing Johnny was talking about? Because no ones excited about this
― josh az (2011nostalgia), Thursday, 25 January 2018 19:29 (six years ago) link
CTRL is one of those album's that if you ask 10 different people you'll prob get 9 different favorite songs, but still, it's shocking that not even Love Galore placed in the 77
― hoooyaaargh it's me satan (voodoo chili), Thursday, 25 January 2018 19:29 (six years ago) link
so... er... what is good about this song / video?

The "Boys" video isn't bad, but it's no "Ice Cream Truck."

i remember being enthralled by 'superlove' in this same poll rollout however many years ago but she's never made another song i like enough to vote for

Huh.
Will once again plug the Howie Lee remix of Boys, though it just missed my ballot.
Interesting rollout. Can't believe SZA didn't make it. First year I don't catch up on the Singles Jukebox and "Akanamali" takes me by surprise, though I guess I don't follow South African stuff compared to Nigeria/Ghana/Angola/etc. Gorgeous track!

the mario sound effects are cute and i guess it's nice to have a gender-flipped version of ludacris' "area codes"

thanks guys, indeed. today's run only had a couple of things i was interested in but nevertheless the rest of the poll was excellent.
― Badgers (dog latin), Thursday, 25 January 2018 19:32 (six years ago) link
this song had nothing to do with PC Music except some of them are in the video
the very PC Music-heavy album Pop 2 she released in December though is by far her best release and I hope it wasn't ignored in the albums poll
― ufo, Thursday, 25 January 2018 19:32 (six years ago) link
i think boys is great but would put it at the second half of a top ten and i guess there were enough people who felt the same way that it won with majority rules
― Chocolate-covered gummy bears? Not ruling those lil' guys out. (ulysses), Thursday, 25 January 2018 19:32 (six years ago) link
She gets worse with each new release cycle imo (first album was the best).

I made hints earlier about ILX voting on auto-pilot, but that was based on a guess that HAIM was going to show up somewhere.
