Chill out man, it's time for some Floyd not Floyd.

this is maybe a little bit more tangerine dream, but...

...early Tangerine Dream could get a little bit Floydian from time to time.

there's also the Magic Sound Celebration's "Imaginary World", which is quite literally the non-infringing version of "Shine On You Crazy Diamond". I could only find this three minute excerpt.

That Tommy James track is excellent. Never heard that one before.

Adelbert Von Deyen's Eclipse is a good candidate for this thread.

How about an alt-country "Us and Them/Careful With That Axe Eugene" slow build with Wright-like organ, Mason-esque drums and Waters-tacular rolling gongs?

Canyon - Head Above

Canyon's whole Empty Rooms album feels very Floydian--I keep waiting for the pedal steel to start making seagull noises.

Yonin Bayashi, I've seen referred to as the Japanese Pink Floyd, this record from 1976 has mad Gentle Giant bits and all sorts but this track definitely has a Floydian feel.

I found that PFM record for $0.25 in a local library discard bin. It's good but it's very much a game of "Spot the Prog influence"... ELP, Genesis, VDGG, Yes, Tull and maybe Floyd here too.

Halfway there but for you, Tuesday, 24 August 2021 21:53 (two years ago) link

Yeah I've just heard it on the Antologia compilation and thought it started off sounding something like Brain Damage (which tbf came out the following year) or Fearless? But it goes some other places. Right now they are definitely being Genesis on Harlequin.

It has the same "clawhammer" fingerpicking style as Dear Prudence, etc.
Probably where they got it from.

Heard this on an old documentary clip and had to Shazam it, turned out to be by Focus of all things (there was also some PFM on the soundtrack)

Makes sense, but there's also that little rising and falling at the end of lines that's quite a characteristic Gilmour (?) vocal thing. The harmony recalls CSN&Y though maybe.

That Rain Parade song is double Floyd, like Syd Barrett meets Meddle.

one year passes...

Spidergawd/ Eep Hour off of Jerry Garcia’s first solo record definitely would fit on a pre-Dark Side LP with that hazy chord progression and the sailing pedal steel.

Had not listened to that LP in well over a decade and it is a good listen.
