The Courtneys

Alright, they're gonna need a thread, I'm only sad I waited so long. Their cymbal-heavy grooves and "who knew a melody could still feel so generous, so new" melodies got me in a trance when they opened for Jay Som in March, then The Courtneys II defined my spring and summer. I wanted my drum set back so bad, if only to bash along to all of its 38 minutes, had to settle for driving around instead.

The sun it gets higher, higher:

I liked this album. Our local music editor didn't put on the annual "best of local releases" list initially and I pushed to have included. Pretty happy he caved.

ugh, that sucks. so scary and seemingly unfair that some are dealing with that while others aren't.

hope she can feel better soon.

if anyone wants to support them, go buy Gum Country's "Somewhere" on Bandcamp Friday. one of my favorite albums of the past few years.
