Poignancy: Lyrics that knock it out of the park and feel like they were written solely for you at a particularly poignant moment in (your) time

Tonight:

you wake before the sunrise
and at five am you get on the bus
people look so resigned to the daily grind
and you swear it'll never be you
you said that you were new in town
no friends around no family to speak of
everyone you met out here was just full of fear
with no time for dreams or schemes
and as you're walking down the street what do you see?
well there's cars, and strip malls
and little black houses what do they mean?

the city you live in is ugly
but it wasn't meant to be

they covered up the Bomax sign
with toys r us you didn't make a fuss
but now you're regretting it and forgetting it
and you dont drive by there much

you're working on broadway,
the early shift in a new cafe
lately you've been pawning bills just for the thrills
and you boss hasnt noticed a thing

and you're feeling very lost in the world today
there's no use for you here
and here's just the same as anywhere

the city you live in is ugly
but it wasn't meant to be
no it wasn't meant to be

Young and Sexy, 'The City You Live In Is Ugly'

If there's somethin' strange in your neighborhood
Who ya gonna call (ghostbusters)
If it's somethin' weird an it don't look good
Who ya gonna call (ghostbusters)

I ain't afraid a no ghost
I ain't afraid a no ghost
If you're seein' things runnin' thru your head
Who can you call (ghostbusters)
An' invisible man sleepin' in your bed
Oh who ya gonna call (ghostbusters)
I ain't afraid a no ghost
I ain't afraid a no ghost
Who ya gonna call (ghostbusters)
If you're all alone pick up the phone
An call (ghostbusters)

I ain't afraid a no ghost
I hear it likes the girls
I ain't afraid a no ghost
Who you gonna call (ghostbusters)
Mm... if you've had a dose
Of a freaky ghost baby
You better call ghostbusters
Bustin' makes me feel good
I ain't afraid a no ghosts

Don't get caught alone oh no... ghostbuster
When he comes through your door
Unless you've just got some more
I think you better call ghostbusters
Ooh... who you gonna call (ghostbusters)
Who you gonna call (ghostbusters)
Ah, I think you better call (ghostbusters)

I can't hear you... (ghostbusters)
Who you gonna call (ghostbusters)
Louder ghostbusters
Who you gonna call (ghostbusters)
Who you can call ghostbusters... (till fade)

^^ that really resonated with me that time an invisible man was sleeping in my bed

Any world that I'm welcome to is better than the one I come from

time for supper now
day's been hard and I'm so tired
I feel like eating now

Perhaps strangely, I associate Erlend Oye/Whitest Boy Alive's "Golden Cage" with the death of a cat.

"So of course I miss you and miss you bad
But I also felt this way when I was still with you."

We knew that he was on his last legs and was likely to have a blood clot ... so we kind of grieved for him while he was still alive.

And I was probably just playing the track (I think in a remixed form) around the same time.
