You're now the second person I've seen calling this the song of the year.

1) the violins loop that goes throughout
2) chorus
3) the breathy vocals on the pre-chorus
4) funny lyrics

i could do without the noisy distorted lo-bit sound that comes in during last minute or two but o/w it's a smash

Favorite song of hers from long ago. I don't think it ever made it on an album.

maura repping it in RS under-the-radar list:

Casey Dienel – who's also recorded as White Hinterland – takes on the feminine imperative with lacerating humor and fortress-of-sound synths on this stunner of an album, which includes the zipless-fuck mini-opera "High Times," the frantic rebuttal to fitting into "sample size" culture "Complicated Silhouette" and the paranoid synth-pop fantasia "Thrasher." Dienel's humor is honest and searing, and her songwriting is norm-averse. Imitation was a glittering rock hurled at femininity's funhouse mirror when it was released in May, and it only grew more vital as the year dragged on and more men behaving badly slithered out of society's firmament.

tom says he likes girls
who are fit but still eat good
fuck but don’t need love
dirt on their tongues but never speak up

tom says he likes girls
who aren’t afraid to be feminine
afraid to be feminine
yeah, that’s me
