I think Melody's Echo Chamber deserve their own thread. The new single is pretty slapdash and not unlike the Avalanches as far as cut-ups go, but it still has some lovely parts. Anyone else anticipating?

Yeah, I'm really excited about this. I love the first album so much. Can't believe it's already been five years since it came out.

Kitchen, have you heard the EP from last year? From pink they turn into blue ?

Carlotta's Portrait (Ross), Wednesday, 12 April 2017 03:16 (five years ago) link

No, I haven't. Worth checking out?

kitchen person, Wednesday, 12 April 2017 13:56 (five years ago) link

Yeah, it's great :) It's all demo material

Glad she's doing well and there is new music coming. Is it just a mini-album? There's only seven songs listed.

Her new album is a masterpiece! I can't even get my head around it right now, I just know I can't wait to play this obsessively over the next few days. So much to take in even though it's only 34 minutes long.

kitchen person, Wednesday, 6 June 2018 03:59 (three years ago) link

Damn I can’t wait to hear this

synonym toast crunch (Ross), Wednesday, 6 June 2018 14:57 (three years ago) link

It's perfect. Could well be the best album I've heard since Ten Love Songs.

kitchen person, Wednesday, 6 June 2018 15:31 (three years ago) link

Videos are incredible too! Haven’t heard this yet as I’m broke but intend to buy ASAP

Slippage (Ross), Thursday, 7 June 2018 02:22 (three years ago) link

Is "Desert Horse" on it ?
Because I gave it a try and I REALLY dislike it !

AlXTC from Paris, Thursday, 7 June 2018 07:42 (three years ago) link

Yeah, it's on there. All four of the singles made it and it's only seven songs long. That's my only disappointment with the album.

kitchen person, Thursday, 7 June 2018 14:41 (three years ago) link

I love desert horse - it’s groovy and weird

Slippage (Ross), Thursday, 7 June 2018 16:28 (three years ago) link

Really hate how everything needs to be unveiled ahead of release. I can't resist ruining the surprise.

afriendlypioneer, Thursday, 7 June 2018 16:28 (three years ago) link

Otm

Iam was the worst for this in the past. By the time the record came out all videos were essentially online anyway

Slippage (Ross), Thursday, 7 June 2018 16:37 (three years ago) link

shirim is on this record? that makes total sense as that seems to have informed the sound here

Slippage (Ross), Sunday, 10 June 2018 15:59 (three years ago) link

Out today. Gotta admit some of the lyrics are troubling to me, not sure if she recorded this during and after the injury but the “so much blood on my hands” lyric is disturbing.
Hope she’s recovering ok

sunburst N snowblind (Ross), Friday, 15 June 2018 12:31 (three years ago) link

Magical record. Nice Wendy and Bonnie cover. Some of
The best drumming all year in that man is not a bird broadcast vein - heavy ass fills on Quand...

Joyful moments, top 5 easy so far

sunburst N snowblind (Ross), Saturday, 16 June 2018 18:48 (three years ago) link

Yeah, I think this really is an astonishing record. Hope people don't sleep on it.

kitchen person, Saturday, 16 June 2018 19:21 (three years ago) link

Same

sunburst N snowblind (Ross), Saturday, 16 June 2018 19:52 (three years ago) link

I checked this out due to it being Dungen-adjacent and I'm digging it a lot! Any Jane Weaver fans out there should give it a whack.

Cannonley Adderall (InternationalWaters), Saturday, 16 June 2018 21:18 (three years ago) link

It's going to take a few listens to completely get my head around this record, but it feels… for want of a better word… important.

Definitely hear the Dungen drums on one epic track near the end. Highlight of the album for me, the rest I could take or leave

calstars, Saturday, 16 June 2018 22:54 (three years ago) link

weird -- some of "Desert Horse" reminds me of Blonde Redhead's "Equus" (which was about singer Kazu's very serious accident involving a horse)

rip van wanko, Saturday, 16 June 2018 23:02 (three years ago) link

She said she'd not written anything since her illness so it must pre-date it

PaulTMA, Saturday, 16 June 2018 23:47 (three years ago) link

Yeah, I think the album was completed a year ago and ready to release before the accident.

kitchen person, Sunday, 17 June 2018 01:20 (three years ago) link

Calstars is a tough customer tho quands tbf is the best track.

Few thoughts: cross my heart revisions improve that track from its initial release. Longer outro. Shirim sounds better too. Visions of someone special appears to be partly a cover and an original, which is cool.

I love this album. Would kill for a full collab / tour with Dungen.

Melody just released a new record called Emotional Eternal that I think is pretty stunning.

First half is excellent though loses some steam by the end. I love her singing in French.

SQUIRREL MEAT!! (Capitaine Jay Vee), Friday, 6 May 2022 21:01 (two weeks ago) link

Beautiful album. She's so underrated.

kitchen person, Saturday, 7 May 2022 01:59 (two weeks ago) link

The homage/tip of the hat to Gainsbourg and Vannier's " L'hotel particulier" on "the Hypnotist" is lush.
