Destroyer: S/D

I'm seeing Destroyer tonight in Atlanta, with Calexico and Black Heart Procession. I've only heard one song, on a Merge comp. - pretty good. I love the entirety of the New Pornographers album (which songs are his? "Jackie," what else?). So, what to get at the merch stand tonight? The lot? Thanks.

Almost forgot. I have an extra free ticket for the show - email me, and it's yours.

If you're into the glam vibe go for Streethawk: A Seduction which has "The Sublimation Hour" on it. If you'd like something a little more straight indie-pop see if they have Thief which has "The Way of Perpetual Roads." I wouldn't pick up the new one as an introduction, the songs are a bit too long and not as hooky.

The new album (This Night) is stellar. One of the best albums of the year and easily Destroyer's best.

A name like that and they're not a Kiss tribute?

Search all except for the first album, "We'll Build Them a Golden Bridge." The new one's good but "Streethawk" is the masterpiece. Ned, you would completely LOVE these guys, you gotta get both Thief & Streethawk. For real.

Posting to iLX0r from tour = disorienting. Greetings from upstate NY, anyhow.

I trust your words, Mr. Darnielle. But I will WEEP if you have lied!

Where in upstate NY? Saratoga Springs was my former haunt in the early eighties.

Hmmmm....apparently the divine Shiva the Destroyer refuses to let his image be appropriated for the interests of a cheap gag.

I second the Destroyer recommendation. I'm stealing this from a friend, but Streethawk is one man's obsession with Ziggy Stardust. Good.

ressurecting this to say search City Of Daughters as well; a stellar little album. Destroyer is one of the greatest things going today.

The first one is really alarmingly lo-fi and unlistenable; the rest have, so far, been golden, though I don't have the newest one yet.

Search all, all classic - one of the only bands that wifey and I agree on 100% (along with TATU) - saw him live, was one of the best shows of last year (if not THE best) - and while i'm at it, not to heap a superhuman amount of praise on a contemporary artist, but he does look very much like ayoung Bob Dylan in person. Coincidence?

He's great. Thief is my favorite, but like i said, search all. Especially if lyrics matter to you.
