I won't hear a word against Yagya. Well, some of the vocals on the album before last were a little soppy, but I thought it worked, and hey! He gave you an instrumental version of the entire album in case the vocals made you mad, so.

listening to david sylvian/holger czukay's plight & premonition and thinking about the different temperaments of ambient music, like say "romantic" or "contemplative" or "inquisitive" etc. also how atmospherically evocative this record is, via the pacing and the samples deployed and especially by harmonically just being all modal sounding and awesome. Not much melodrama at all, it straddles the weepy line for a few moments but this tension makes it more interesting.

that datacide track is awesome. i was not expecting them to sound so "aquatic". i really like the cymantic scan and second nature albums, but they're more on the creepy squiggly experimental side of things. they bring very unusual vibes, quality unsentimental ambient.

i'm hella interested in this album: http://www.discogs.com/Masters-Of-Psychedelic-Ambiance-Mu/release/69514

ahh .. we have moved in tuomas's groove : FAX and its various off shoots.
i have that Masters of Psych album.
it is pure 1994 ambient gorgeousness with various vocal cut ups added.
got lucky as at the same time, the shop had Flextone, and DOTS in from the RI label.
they all still get regular spins.

i only have the one yagya album, rhythm of snow (force inc. version)
its bloody perfect for deep winter listening.
had no idea he made more.

a plague on marsten jules too! all these deep feelings... it's just praise music with crackling. sell it to joel osteen or something.
i did enjoy playing tim hecker's ravedeath 1913 while watching the GOP debates 2 years ago, such perfect dead smelly post-apocolypse irony. he REALLY straddles that maudlin line but radio amor and mirages contain such unsentimental yet pretty digital soot, he definitely gets a pass.

braunld (Lowell N. Behold'n), Sunday, 2 October 2016 00:33 (seven years ago) link

yeah i can see how it's unclear but "blech" is referring to the sound of me vomitting.. this thread was supposed to be for hating on that stuff but w/e

brimstead, Sunday, 2 October 2016 01:27 (seven years ago) link
