Trip Maker, Tuesday, 6 October 2009 20:24 (sixteen years ago)

yep. current line-up is a female singer (little Mike's wife) who can do death metal growling like a dude, little Mike & big Mike on bass, and two drummers.

Teenage Jesus & the Jerks were disappointing, not that I was expecting a whole lot - Lydia Lunch sounded like Bea Arthur.

sarahel, Friday, 9 October 2009 19:35 (sixteen years ago)

Bea Arthur was awesome tho

the taint of Macca is strong (Shakey Mo Collier), Friday, 9 October 2009 19:37 (sixteen years ago)

RIP Bea Arthur

what about this band bronze? are they good? they're playing in nyc in a few weeks and sound pretty interesting.

mizzell, Friday, 9 October 2009 22:11 (sixteen years ago)

some of my friends really like Bronze - i know i've seen them once, but i can't remember what they sounded like and whether i thought they were ok, good, or great

sarahel, Friday, 9 October 2009 22:15 (sixteen years ago)

psychgawsple, Tuesday, 13 October 2009 20:52 (sixteen years ago)

hey, so...uh...anything going on tonight? James isn't in town, so Tubesteak isn't an option, and i'm pretty sure this guy i'm meeting up with doesn't want to see Schlong at the Eagle. is Triple Crown as awful as everyone says?

my bach penises and their contrapuntal technique (the table is the table), Thursday, 15 October 2009 23:50 (sixteen years ago)

Nadja's playing in Oakland.

Alex in SF, Friday, 16 October 2009 00:01 (sixteen years ago)

triple crown is fine. i've never had a bad time there. dunno what this party is there tonight though.

lol time swiney

i will be there dudez!

friends are also dragging me to the claude vonstroke release party thingie, but i kinda only wanna go for the free tequila

psychgawsple, Friday, 13 November 2009 09:18 (sixteen years ago)

o, and my soul night will be actual soul music. like 70s southern and funk. none of that bullshit northern soul and oldies that gets passed off as soul to twee indie hipsters in SF

jaxon, Friday, 13 November 2009 18:13 (sixteen years ago)

is this narcissism of small differences or a bona fide subcultural divide?

provates: feminine plural of provato (sarahel), Friday, 13 November 2009 18:14 (sixteen years ago)

to me it's huge ;)

jaxon, Friday, 13 November 2009 18:16 (sixteen years ago)

to me, northern soul is a very white, anglo take on american soul. southern soul and funk is the backbone of hip hop. but i'm guessing this is prolly still narcissism of small differences, and coming from a white sf hipster, i shouldn't be saying much.

jaxon, Friday, 13 November 2009 18:19 (sixteen years ago)

^^^think this is totally legit but primarily an anglo/American divide and seeing as how there aren't a shitload of Brits in SF seems like kinda a moot point

Peppy Bizmilk (Shakey Mo Collier), Friday, 13 November 2009 18:23 (sixteen years ago)

ya, but there are a ton of anglophile suit wearing hipsters that call something a soul night and then play stuff like this. http://www.myspace.com/soulparty i mean, it's "soul" music, but not really what i'm into.

jaxon, Friday, 13 November 2009 18:27 (sixteen years ago)

^^ uh, one of those guys is a friend of mine tbh

provates: feminine plural of provato (sarahel), Friday, 13 November 2009 18:30 (sixteen years ago)

FITE!

me and jaxon vs. the scooter patrol

Peppy Bizmilk (Shakey Mo Collier), Friday, 13 November 2009 18:31 (sixteen years ago)

P@ul's a lover not a fighter.

provates: feminine plural of provato (sarahel), Friday, 13 November 2009 18:32 (sixteen years ago)

I love tons of British stuff but there is a limit to my anglophilia... like white Americans fetishizing 60s Britishers fetishizing American 60s black culture is too "through the looking glass" for me

Peppy Bizmilk (Shakey Mo Collier), Friday, 13 November 2009 18:32 (sixteen years ago)

not saying they're bad people. just not my thing.

jaxon, Friday, 13 November 2009 18:33 (sixteen years ago)

honestly, i don't care - most of what i go to are noise shows of some variety.

provates: feminine plural of provato (sarahel), Friday, 13 November 2009 18:34 (sixteen years ago)

do they have dress codes

Peppy Bizmilk (Shakey Mo Collier), Friday, 13 November 2009 18:35 (sixteen years ago)

not even for the performers

provates: feminine plural of provato (sarahel), Friday, 13 November 2009 18:35 (sixteen years ago)
