nice to see all the "Like a Fire" love! here's something else you peeps might be interested in:

Sugar Beetz - In Your Eyes

4x4 UK garage Todd hommage from '04... though "hommage" is an understatement for such a straigh-up style-jack. anyway, it's completely awesome!

Mind Taker, Tuesday, 21 February 2006 23:37 (twenty years ago)

Hadn't heard these, Mind Taker - thank you!

Tantrum The Cat (Tantrum The Cat), Tuesday, 21 February 2006 23:56 (twenty years ago)

don't want to derail this thread, but if anyone wants to hear more of recent non-grime 4x4 UKG, there are some mixes on Duncan Powell's site . if you can handle realplayer media, get the may 04 set - it's start-to-finish brilliance. (and the oldskool garage mix is all wicked vintage abstract speed garage beatz). then there's the mix from this Russian guy (right click on the diskette image): the sequence from Justice League's "Say to Myself" to Todd's "Heaven" is rrrrrushy, and I defy anyone to hear Mask's "Hottie" without a big grin on their face! finally, here you can find a 4x4 mix by Karl "Tuff Enuff" Brown from 2005, heavy on cut-up vox, 107 minutes of bumpy fun.

Mind Taker, Wednesday, 22 February 2006 00:24 (twenty years ago)

If that's a derail, then let's have more! Heard this guy? (Click on "media"...)

yeah I heard of him, I posted that link on your "new speed garage" thread. :)

you can find lots more UKG mixes and radio shows on this forum .

love the 2006 Urbanomix feat Lauryn Hill track you've listed (first Todd I've rushed to buy in a while).
also reminded me I never picked up that The Factory classic (there were 2 twelves right?)
~ wonder what else fell off old wants lists?

the album's coming out on sept 25th, rejoice! clips can be heard on i! recordings' site. not sure about the downtempo electro bits, but "Silent Prayer" sounds absolutely amazing.

Mind Taker (Mind Taker), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 19:41 (nineteen years ago)

a-fuckin'-men!

hank (hank s), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 19:48 (nineteen years ago)

it's very good, though vocal-heavy. the songs are in the 3-4 minute range and it's 49:30 total; 14 songs plus two interludes. more straightforwardly poppy than usual.

Matos-Webster Dictionary (M Matos), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 20:20 (nineteen years ago)

"poppy" is good...unless it's "Poppy Nogood", of course...

(groan)

hank (hank s), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 20:36 (nineteen years ago)

Finally a release date! Can't wait.

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 20:56 (nineteen years ago)

I received my CD yesterday. I pre-ordered it from the irecordings website. It includes a signed Todd Edwards poster that features the expanded cover art which is a 3-D rendered crucifix!

I.M. From Hollywood (i_m_from_hollywood), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 21:33 (nineteen years ago)

The clips sound awesome, I can't wait to hear it. I'm interested in hearing those downtempo songs on it, just because I don't think I've heard a song of his that doesn't use his standard beat. His style could carry over well to other genres.

So who wants to post another mix.? Slsk is letting me down right now...

Naive Teen Idol (Naive Teen Idol), Sunday, 28 January 2007 03:57 (nineteen years ago)

Ok, so slsk picked up me back up. "Where Are You" off of Odyssey is, in particular, outstanding. Who even writes pop stuff like this right now? Anyone at all?

Naive Teen Idol (Naive Teen Idol), Tuesday, 30 January 2007 06:32 (nineteen years ago)

And now ILM lets me down...

Naive Teen Idol (Naive Teen Idol), Tuesday, 30 January 2007 18:19 (nineteen years ago)

Sorry, I haven't listened to Odyssey in a while, but I will now and will return to this thread!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 30 January 2007 19:14 (nineteen years ago)

I absolutely love "Show The Way"...it's like a rave ballad...(incidentally, did anybody else notice that the guy known as Burial drooled over this LP in The Wire's 2006 recap issue?)...

hank (hank s), Tuesday, 30 January 2007 19:50 (nineteen years ago)

I've had "The Journey" on loop a lot, with "Far Away" coming a close second.

revive because matos and i were talking about him yesterday and now i'm obsessively listening to him again

strongohulkington, Thursday, 15 March 2007 14:51 (nineteen years ago)

the Cheese Factor (Michael McDonald soundalike singer, noodling sax solos, etc.) on this record is extremely high, which works in it's favor...

henry s, Thursday, 15 March 2007 15:04 (nineteen years ago)

kinda wondering what vahid thinks of odyssey (after his turn on this thread http://ilx.thehold.net/thread.php?msgid=70318) - at first i was WELL INTO IT cos it wz the first time i'd heard todd drop the shtick a little and do some fullyformed varied songs (seemed like he wz trying to return daft punk's favour if u like) but now i'm back to being tired of him. 'the journey' is still great tho.

!! Googling to see if the rumour that he was remixing the Klaxons (UH), & came across a new interview w/him by Matos!

Said Interview

(& there's a clip of his Klaxons rmx up on his
MySpace)

etc, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 15:19 (nineteen years ago)

I really need to play that "Crazy In Love" remix out, too.

etc, Thursday, 26 April 2007 23:04 (nineteen years ago)

What an amazing interview! I love how positive and considered he is.

Spencer Chow, Thursday, 26 April 2007 23:24 (nineteen years ago)

Maybe not the best place to ask, but does anyone have this remix Todd did of Enya's "Afer Ventus"???

the audio is a rip from 1xtra so it has some talking and an air horn:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r0NZg5nkfds

Spencer Chow, Thursday, 15 November 2007 00:31 (eighteen years ago)

i only have the realmedia rip from the same show - the only time that track has surfaced in public, as far as i know. no sign of it ever being released, ditto "Roll With It" and the Gina Thompson remix. :(

on the upside, here's a brand new Todd track:
http://media.putfile.com/Todd-Edwards---Come-On-To-Me-MCDONALDS-AT-THE-ROAAD--Haha-XD-EZ

Mind Taker, Thursday, 15 November 2007 12:31 (eighteen years ago)

haha i only wish that did actually sound like 'mcdonalds at the road'. lovely track still.

would i be right in saying that that's better than anything on full on 3? i've only heard the clips.

r|t|c, Thursday, 15 November 2007 15:38 (eighteen years ago)

well, if you mean *new* tracks on "Full On 3" then you're basically right - except for "When Angels Sing", which is pure magic.

Mind Taker, Thursday, 15 November 2007 15:50 (eighteen years ago)

Am I the only one who loves Todd but wasn't terribly into the Full On comps?

Naive Teen Idol, Thursday, 15 November 2007 16:01 (eighteen years ago)

damn didn't even know there was a volume 3... no appearance of "heaven", though, which is a huge mistake

winston, Friday, 16 November 2007 02:07 (eighteen years ago)

if anyone can find it, the "Prima Edizione" compilation is well worth checking out (on cd, 1999). i think it's a compilation of ep's he put out on i! Records. includes 'Light of the Son' which is one of my Todd favourites, as well as 'Fly Away' (+ ambient remix).

i seem to remember picking it up in a brixton secondhand shop a few years ago for a couple of quid. it's been a trusty mainstay of my mp3 player ever since.

sam500, Friday, 16 November 2007 02:35 (eighteen years ago)

Prima Edizione is easily the best of his CDs.

Spencer Chow, Friday, 16 November 2007 06:23 (eighteen years ago)

oops. Prima Edizione

Spencer Chow, Friday, 16 November 2007 06:24 (eighteen years ago)

my favorite track is 'end this hate'

deej, Saturday, 17 November 2007 03:06 (eighteen years ago)

Holy shit, I'm loving Odyssey. So much cheesy pop goodness! I really want to hear Prima Edizione, now. Why don't I hear more about this guy??

later arpeggiator, Wednesday, 26 March 2008 16:30 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah, Prima Edizione is sooo good. The Phoenix and St. Germain remixes I've played in the last 12 months but Prima Edizione is the best. I've been listening to this alongside Thomas Melchior's "Never Give Up"..
