It's totally essential, it's the big brassy blow-out at the end. Ending with 'Go Shawty' wouldn't be much cop.

That whole electro-schaffel-pop signature has got so tired to me that Electrik Red turning it up *really loud* and adding some righteous anger kind of invigorated it for me. When Britney released Womanizer my response was more "oh, another one".

I dunno, if you're threatening to kill someone it's probably good to do it really loudly. Either that or with whispering menace.

oh yeah i always forget that "electrik city" isn't actually the album closer, even though it is PERFECT in that role - finishing the album with that deadpan "ELECTRIK. RED."

I like "Kill Bill" and agree with Matt here but it shouldn't be a single.

The group is currently in the works of filming a video for next single "P Is For Power".

i disagree - not sure the kind of open space that song deals w/ is their best look for radio. "friend lover" is the obvious next single for me. it aint "kill bill" for sure tho

I think Leslie splits lines with Naomi in the bridge of that one, too

Good god this album is ridiculous. Pretty ardent pop follower and I hadn't heard of it till I noticed this thread. Only halfway through the thing, but record of the year by a mile already.

Eagerly awaiting the surprise appearance of Electrik Red in the P4K Top 25 of 2009, leading to Lex having a stroke.

cool! i'm curious if the non indie-minded pitchfork writers have any sort of limit to their freedom with this sort of thing. on the one hand i don't see anyone intervening if he gave it a glowing review, but then anything over an 8.7 is equally unimaginable. not that tim necessarily thinks "how to be a lady vol.1" is 9.0 material, but if he did would it get published? seems those sort of reviews are reserved for album-as-art statement-type, "significant" indie albums.

all three of the terius-produced albums this year deserve 8.7 at the very fucking least

yeah i agree with you lex, but all i'm saying is i feel like there seems to be a limit to the praise a non-staff favourite album can get.

Why is the Electrik Red album being reviewed for Pfork, but they haven't managed to review The-Dream to this point? I mean, dudes at Pfork love them some Kanye and I see the overlap in their fanbases as being pretty significant. Just wondering. Maybe it's like the Erykah album where the review doesn't appear until late in the year? Probably will just be overlooked, though.

Oh good, a chance to talk about Pitchfork's reviews policy on yet another thread. I'm gutted I have to go to the pub and will miss this.
