see, i'm honestly not tryna be mr negative every time but goddamn if that isnt the most inept entry yet to a long and proud cultural lineage of sampling ART OF NOISE, even ashanti made a better fist of that shit!!

r|t|c, Thursday, 17 September 2009 23:28 (sixteen years ago)

had no idea mo murda sampled art of noise

BiG HoOs is the one claim!!! (deej), Thursday, 17 September 2009 23:42 (sixteen years ago)

lloyd was so real in 04 he also sampled 'beat box' on that same album too but i'm guessing ur all okay for youtubes right now. i kinda mislaid my lloyd fan club membership card this year and whats worse am pretty sure that trey songz mixtape is to blame :(

r|t|c, Thursday, 17 September 2009 23:45 (sixteen years ago)

oh thats murda mo not mo murda

deej, Thursday, 17 September 2009 23:46 (sixteen years ago)

that trey songz mixtape was pretty great

deej, Thursday, 17 September 2009 23:46 (sixteen years ago)

"make it rain" is awesome.

matt damon & the jb's (the anephric project), Thursday, 17 September 2009 23:51 (sixteen years ago)

yeah i can't hate, it really was. even the new proper album's... well, there's plenty stuff you can clown in there but on the whole it's better than a lot of things, especially this year. but ultimately yes it does lack that ugh-how-did-this-idiot-seduce-me walk of shame appeal the mixtape has.

troy taylor who produced a lot of it is a veteran of 90s rnb filler btw! http://www.discogs.com/artist/Characters%2C+The (clutching at straws, who me?)

r|t|c, Friday, 18 September 2009 00:05 (sixteen years ago)

rifle love's grandad is yet still more amazingly brilliant, it has to be said. best song ever in fact! it's a shame going to the cinema is a rub plan for a 1st date irl usually though.

<3 "Shoot Em Up Movies"

The Reverend, Friday, 18 September 2009 04:39 (sixteen years ago)

i think we need to have a look at this one

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uvSbKSfew6E

a year ago i'd've been all "omg! hott!" and so on, with that weird-ass minimalist beat and try-hard night-vision video. now...i think i do the same, but i fear gagaisms.

lex pretend, Friday, 18 September 2009 23:37 (sixteen years ago)

I think the pertinent difference between that and Gaga is that that isn't totally fucking awful on a musical level.

The Reverend, Saturday, 19 September 2009 05:59 (sixteen years ago)

once again ilm's insanely ott gaga strawmannery proves itself more contrived than she herself could ever dare to be - there's no way that thing's not a thousand times more obnoxiously useless than any given l.g cut.

howevermanyfucking consecutive years is it now of randoms pulling the exact same bankrupt "weird" tropes, and the exact same people falling for it every single time? what does that tell you about "gagaism"?

r|t|c, Saturday, 19 September 2009 12:34 (sixteen years ago)

love that teedra mixtape

booth, Saturday, 19 September 2009 13:23 (sixteen years ago)

is it even possible to strawman Lady Gaga? if you tried she'd just dress up like Ray Bolger and sing "If I Only Had A Brain" at the next big awards show.

some dude, Saturday, 19 September 2009 13:27 (sixteen years ago)

agreeing with the rev here

EVERYBODY WANNA BOOOOO ME BUT I’M A FAN OF REAL POP CULTURE! (forksclovetofu), Saturday, 19 September 2009 13:37 (sixteen years ago)

brrrrrrring ittttttttt.

btw, booth help me out here - on track 2 of that teedra tape does she or does she not sing "smooth like lil mama was a silkworm"!! or is that another one for my unfuckwitable portfolio of misheard lyrics

r|t|c, Saturday, 19 September 2009 14:18 (sixteen years ago)

sounds right

booth, Saturday, 19 September 2009 14:37 (sixteen years ago)

you're gonna wanna take your clothes off, too

samosa gibreel, Saturday, 19 September 2009 15:53 (sixteen years ago)

the beat is the way best part of that song, though. which is fine cause it's sweet, but the vocal melodies are totally uninteresting.

samosa gibreel, Saturday, 19 September 2009 15:54 (sixteen years ago)

r|t|c, Thursday, 24 September 2009 17:18 (sixteen years ago)

r|t|c, Thursday, 24 September 2009 17:19 (sixteen years ago)

yeah that's pretty unnecessary, although i appreciate that she's as gratuitous with the gams as every

after months of "Break Up" terrorizing the airwaves it's a relief that the new Mario single is a dreamy Rico Love thing:

i remember reading an article about zaytoven a little while back that listed usher as one of the artists he'd been in the studio w/, thought it was interesting that an A-list R&B guy would get to him really before just about any A-list rappers
