hang on....

The “Isn't Anything” remaster I downloaded sounded really really good - even if it’s not legit it’s a huge improvement over the original CD version.
Would be nice if the Loveless one came out one day though.
― Chewshabadoo, Tuesday, 15 September 2009 09:13 (sixteen years ago)
Maybe they are waiting to combine it with "Rock Band: My Bloody Valentine Edition", but I'm going to have to plagiarise my own post from the other MBV thread:
How you uh, how you comin' on that novel you're working on? Huh? Gotta a big, uh, big stack of papers there? Gotta, gotta nice little story you're working on there? Your big novel you've been working on for 3 years? Huh? Gotta, gotta compelling protagonist? Yeah? Gotta obstacle for him to overcome? Huh? Gotta story brewing there? Working on, working on that for quite some time? Huh? (voice getting higher pitched) Yea, talking about that 3 years ago. Been working on that the whole time? Nice little narrative? Beginning, middle, and end? Some friends become enemies, some enemies become friends? At the end your main character is richer from the experience? Yeah? Yeah? (voice returns to normal) No, no, you deserve some time off.

HAHA. Don't usually rate Family Guy - but that scene is so OTM.

Those liner notes don't write themselves you know!
― Chewshabadoo, Thursday, 29 October 2009 12:20 (sixteen years ago)
I did see someone selling his "Isn't Anything" 2009 promo on e-bay.
It looked legit, fwiw...
― Mark G, Thursday, 29 October 2009 12:21 (sixteen years ago)
the 'leaks' of these that were out were faked, no?
― akm, Thursday, 29 October 2009 17:20 (sixteen years ago)
copies (of the loveless cds) have been sent out to journalists (minus artwork and those all-important sleevenotes*). this was summer 2008. i have seen them, but not heard them.
* really, who cares? release the cds, put the notes on a website when they're done.
― koogs, Thursday, 29 October 2009 17:39 (sixteen years ago)
The Loveless one was definitely a fake - and sounded it.
The Isn't Anything leak was probably the real thing, and sounds much better than the original CD master.
― Chewshabadoo, Thursday, 29 October 2009 17:45 (sixteen years ago)
Wasn't this originally scheduled for 2007? It's highly appropriate that even the reissue is delayed that long, ha ha.
― Fastnbulbous, Thursday, 29 October 2009 17:51 (sixteen years ago)
When this finally comes out on brainchip in 2037 it had goddamn well better include the Weatherall remixes.

Now it's almost within reach!
― Mark G, Tuesday, 24 November 2009 12:03 (sixteen years ago)
Nice to see this thread is now the top result for "loveless remaster" on google. Without quotes it's still second, just behind Amazon uk and that tantalising (never gonna happen) date.
― Bill A, Tuesday, 24 November 2009 13:04 (sixteen years ago)
you guys realize that that release date is april fool's day, right? it's also a thursday.
― Robert Necrofrost, Tuesday, 24 November 2009 18:27 (sixteen years ago)
ahh, how the watery divide divides us again: that's 4th January 2010 in Britisher dates.
Prolly be able to rename it Shields's Fools Day though.

― exploding angel vagina (Scik Mouthy), Tuesday, 24 November 2009 18:49 (sixteen years ago)
I find your lack of faith disturbing. Clearly this is now going to be the late Christmas present that Kev has been promising us for three years. So what if he's keen to make sure the enclosed chinchilla breeders guide booklet is factually accurate?
― Bill A, Tuesday, 24 November 2009 18:58 (sixteen years ago)
Also, in keeping with the recent concerts, he is making sure these CDs are THE LOUDEST OF ALL TIME.
― tylerw, Tuesday, 24 November 2009 19:00 (sixteen years ago)
Looks like Kev wants Christmas to be just a little later, again (from Amazon UK):
This title will be released on January 25, 2010.Pre-order now!
THIS IS JUST A SAGA NOW.

anyway i don't believe your loveless = bible ; remaster = kjv analogy anyway
the original was the kjv and this remaster is going to be some terrible modern updating with all the 'thees' and 'thous' taken out and god trying to be down with the kids talking like yr mum trying to be yr homies or something

karen the kjv while beautiful is not a good translation, which I think is the point of the analogy

I'd be curious to know if there any differences between the promo copies I've had since... what, Sep '08? and history mayne's newly-delivered CDs. Did it just take 18 months to write the sleeve notes or was there further tweaking to be done?
― Michael Jones, Tuesday, 5 January 2010 11:44 (sixteen years ago)
hmm. i get the impression that there's been more tweaking since then, but you'll have to send me the promos so i can make the comparison.
― just someone who's l o s t (history mayne), Tuesday, 5 January 2010 11:50 (sixteen years ago)
shieldsy spending 18 months 'tweaking'?
never!
― Karen Tregaskin, Tuesday, 5 January 2010 11:52 (sixteen years ago)
No, YOU'LL have to send me YOUR copies. I'm not falling for that old trick, Mr So-Called history mayne.
xp
(Anyway - still the two versions, one from DAT, one from analogue multi-track?)
― Michael Jones, Tuesday, 5 January 2010 11:53 (sixteen years ago)
three versions!

(This is true, btw)
― Mark G, Tuesday, 5 January 2010 12:06 (sixteen years ago)
(that day was June 22nd, Mike. and S had probably had them a while by then. search tag's photos for International Colouring Contest)
amazon was listing the md version until quite recently (probably less than 18 months ago). actually, their minidisc list is quite long and there are bargains to be had, some of them quite odd choices (Smashing Orange anyone? Godzilla soundtrack? several Clash compilations, some Bjork)
http://www.amazon.co.uk/b/ref=amb_link_19555465_37?node=382531011
(i have exactly 1 (one) prerecorded minidisc - Minidisc by Gescom)

ha hathere's a my bloody valentine forum, and when it opened someone kept posting jokes like, kevin shields' wife is pregnant! the baby will be born in eight years.
i would actually be intrigued by any footnotes for this, whether or not they're a legitimate justification for the wait.
