I'm currently going through what I've downloaded, and trying to get a consistent numbering going.

There's a few I'm missing, but I'll wait till I get the full picture before I do anything about it. Although if anyone can post up Bill Oddie - On Ilkla Moor Baht'at that would be great.

Also, we've finished our Festive 50 project. The bloke who's been collecting them all is currently compiling them, which could take weeks or even months. Anyway, see here for a list of corrections we have had to make along the way from what were on the rocklist website:

Thanks very much for the re-seed. So what am I missing besides the ones posted above? (I've only downloaded the 1,2,3 torrent.)

Harpal (harpal), Wednesday, 8 February 2006 22:41 (twenty years ago)

i found some bloke on soulseek a few weeks ago with covers and labels scans of quite a few of the box contents

frenchbloke (frenchbloke), Wednesday, 8 February 2006 23:25 (twenty years ago)

Thank you Whatever. I do like the two Oddie tracks. Kind of quirky.

There's a 3rd seed?! Think I might be a bit behind here. Hmmm. Back to working out what I need...........

Hi everyone. I thought I might modestly pimp my new podcast "The Yank Sizzler" to Peel lovers here. The podcast is of course inspired by Peelie. So far I have 3 episodes. I'm going to try to play as much great music from every source I can get my hands on, studio tracks, Peel sessions (released and unreleased), online exclusives, live material (released and unreleased) etc. You'll recoginize a few of the tracks from the Peel Box collection.

The url is http://theyanksizzler.libsyn.com/

Of course it isn't like tuning into Peel(especially since I'm from Kansas, USA), but it is good music. And good music needs proliferation.

Thanks everyone,

And is the Sasha Caro single floating around yet?

Michael Stoecker, Monday, 13 February 2006 06:06 (twenty years ago)

What is the final verdict on the "Ken Colyer's Jazzband" single?

Which is the one?

(I shouldn't care really, as the one I have makes me go "Oh hurry up and be over", not feeling the love at all but just for the sake of correctness...)

mark grout (mark grout), Monday, 13 February 2006 09:06 (twenty years ago)

Also, note:

060b Max Romeo - / Lee Perry "Revelation" (UPSETTER)

Last time of checking, was wrong. The track that is/was there was "War in a babylon dub" from the Island single.

Unless that's changed.

mark grout (mark grout), Monday, 13 February 2006 09:09 (twenty years ago)

Michael--thanks!

RE: the Colyer single--i think it was established as the "If I Cease to Love"/"Bucket Got a Hole in It"/"Wild Cat Blues" one..

bought Al Casey cd on thursday, he of 'Surfin Hootenanny' fame (ie the first thing you hear if you listen to the box in order). turns out that Lee Hazelwood wrote and produced it (and a bunch of his other stuff). nice lp of happy surfing songs but not something you can listen to from start to finish whilst remaining sane. the record label owner also designed a car (http://koti.mbnet.fi/wdd/hankdavisbio5.htm) (why does this remind me of Homer Simpson?)

koogs (koogs), Monday, 20 February 2006 13:28 (twenty years ago)

Hi,

Sorry I have been out of the loop for a while. I am now half way through collecting the vinyl versions of these songs. Ken Colyer's EP is on Tempo records EXA 26. It includes "Isle of Capri/St Phillip St Breakdown/Shine & Gentofte Blues. I picked up the copy from New Zealand. I have the following B Sides. Roshell Anderson & Yami Bolo.
I will try to post up soon. Bob Robinson

Bob Robinson (rob1nson), Tuesday, 21 February 2006 23:03 (twenty years ago)

that's the wrong ken colyer ep i'm afraid bob. the other one (same cover, different colour) was shown and played in the documentary.

052a Ken Colyer's Jazzmen - If I Cease to Love / Bucket Got A Hole In It
052b Ken Colyer's Jazzmen - Wildcat Blues / Wabash Blues

both of which we have.

circumstantial evidence: http://www.avistic.demon.co.uk/1995/07.txt

koogs (koogs), Wednesday, 22 February 2006 12:05 (twenty years ago)

Hi Koogs,

The December issue of Record Collector in the UK definitely shows a record matrix number of Tempo EXA 26, which is the St Phillip St Breakdown EP.. Is there any further evidence on this.

Bob Robinson (rob1nson), Saturday, 25 February 2006 15:01 (twenty years ago)

In the documentary they show the If I Cease to Love version, and play a track from it. At one point they show the cover briefly as someone is flipping through the box.

patita (patita), Saturday, 25 February 2006 15:45 (twenty years ago)

an un-firewalled seeder would be most appreciated, stuck at 37%...

sleeve, away, Saturday, 25 February 2006 20:14 (twenty years ago)

> At one point they show the cover briefly

which isn't much help as both covers are *very* similar 8) but yes, If I Cease is shown and played in the documentary (over John's school photo where he's wearing a different style blazer to everyone else, near the start of part two iirc). can't explain the Record Collector catalogue number except that it's easy to mix them up.

buy them both 8)

koogs (koogs), Sunday, 26 February 2006 17:50 (twenty years ago)

Basically, the record collector article was pretty much doing what we have been, i.e. checking the internet, checking the documentary and using intuition.

So, they got the Ken Colyer e.p. wrong, but then I think they are probably right about the Electro Hippies single:

The one we have is the 12" Strange Fruit session, whereas they have it as the limited edition "Mega armageddon death/You suffer" split with Napalm Death that Strange Fruit did. Not to be confused by the similar one Earache records did.

I have dial up at home, but a faster connection at work, but no torrent. If anyone can stick some in the odd zip file, would be most greatful. I do have a mate who can do torrent stuff, but would need some specific info to be successful, as I'm pretty clueless with that end of things.

Thank you very much.

I'll see what I can do Wobs, but I've just suffered a hard drive failure so it may take a bit.

Wobs (Wobs), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 10:05 (twenty years ago)

My apologies. I thought I had elminated those that everyone didn't have. Will try harder in future.

I tried the link Whatever, but unfortunately it gets as far as about 20Mb, and finishes. There's about 35Mb in total.

Wobs (Wobs), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 15:07 (twenty years ago)

the link just worked fine for me

whatever (boglogger), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 18:09 (twenty years ago)

It worked! I had tried repeatedly without success, until I installed the YSIGet thing, and huzzah!

Wonder why its worked on previous large files without installing that, and not this one?

I just looked at your list of missing tracks. It is basically the same as mine. So I imagine there was nothing new in your file. Right?
