A-ha! The total is updated now. But my top artists/top tracks aren't updated yet. I guess it just takes a while.

Sanjay McDougal (jaymc), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 16:00 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm ashamed to say I watched what Jaymc was listening to for about half an hour last night. It felt very creepy!

More people should join this thing NOW!!!

Can you link more then one player/computer to your name? I installed it here at work, but that limits me to what cds I bring. Not as fun as the mp3s at home...

Freelance Hiveminder (blueski), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 17:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Sanjay McDougal (jaymc), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 17:47 (twenty-one years ago)

You just download the plugin for whatever player you use at home/work and use the same login when you set it up!

adam... (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 17:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeahhhh ... except the only jukebox I can install here, apparently, is RealPlayer, which isn't supported :(

Sanjay McDougal (jaymc), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 17:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Adam Faithless (Adam Faithless), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 21:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Not cheeky at all but to avoid this thread getting bogged down in it, how about any further requests be taken to The thread for gmail offers and requests

Alba (Alba), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 21:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Adam, I haven't gotten it yet!

Got it now?

Sanjay McDougal (jaymc), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 21:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Just joined.

Only thing I find disappointing is that the Windows iTunes plugin doesn't update from iPod plays although the Mac one does meaning my stats are going to be very unrepresentative. Don't listen much at home and it tends to be just on random when I do.

mms (mms), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 22:29 (twenty-one years ago)

I made s1ocki join!!

adam... (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 22:34 (twenty-one years ago)

I've got the Mac plug-in but it doesn't seem to have added tracks played on my iPod. Maybe I have to change some setting.

dan (dan), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 22:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Well, Audioscrobbler links up to your Recently Played playlist in iTunes. Does your iPod "talk" to this when you hook it up to iTunes? I always thought it should.

adam... (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 22:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Only assume the Mac plugin does this because the FAQ for the Windows plugin says so, they may be mistaken I suppose.

mms (mms), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 22:43 (twenty-one years ago)

It doesn't actually mirror my Recently Played playlist at all. I know this because iTunes treats something as played if it's allowed to finish, even if one FFs though the whole track and drops it on at the last millisecond. Yesterday, wanting to speed up the process of adding stuff to my audioscrobbler page, I did this with loads of tracks, and was then disappointed to see that though they were in my Recently Played playlist, they never showed up on Audioscrobbler.

It's odd - cause it definitely says in the readme file or whatever it was that one needs to have the Recenty Played playlist there in iTunes for it to work. But in fact it seems to be just sampling what I'm playing at intervals of its own. Meaning that sometimes, I take a track off before it finishes but it still appears on Audioscrobbler (despite iTunes thinking I've not played it).

Maybe it works differently with OS X 10.3

Alba (Alba), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 22:48 (twenty-one years ago)

I think you only have to play a third to a half of the track for it to appear not the whole thing. Certainly my tracks are showing up on my page before they have finished playing.

mms (mms), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 22:59 (twenty-one years ago)

It's half of the track, or four minutes, whichever comes first.

Sanjay McDougal (jaymc), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 23:03 (twenty-one years ago)

This combines the internet, music, useless statistics, and voyeurism - my four favourite things!
