Indie kids hating emo kids is like a butterfly hating a caterpillar: "You mean I used to be that? Eeww!"

latebloomer (latebloomer), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 01:50 (twenty years ago) link

what is emo anyways?

gygax! (gygax!), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 01:54 (twenty years ago) link

It's an aesthetic paradigm more than a musical genre.

It could be argued indie kids are merely in the pupa state.

I hate emo, it is ruining the youth, everyones fake depressed because of emo's terrible vocals, I don't blame the listeners though, I would be depressed if I listened to it too.

Robert Willcutt, Tuesday, 23 March 2004 18:09 (twenty years ago) link

If you think music is supposed to be emotional, no wrong emo is just a bunch of little bastards who think they are cool and tough! they are just little bastards i mean come on people they wear tight leather jeans and sing like fags!

Robert Willcutt, Wednesday, 24 March 2004 17:54 (twenty years ago) link

Soft Cell was emo?!

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 18:02 (twenty years ago) link

Alright man, if youre going to bash something make sure you know whats youre talking about. Whats the point of music and passion if theres no emotion? What would you prefer the music to be about if its not emotional? That would be the downfall of music in itself. When artists dont care and arent emotional. And Emo kids arent cool and tough. Thats the whole point of emo. Deppresed kids who can't get over their ex-girlfriend. I mean come on, leather pants? No no no. That is not emo fashion. The basis of emo fashion is that they wont wear name brand and what the new "trend" is. Thats why they wear the clothes they do. To not ridicule people on what youre wearing. If yyou dont think thats cool, then maybe you should rethink your morals. I dont even know where leather pants came from. Youre 13. Live a little and mature before you bash something you dont know about. Or research a bit.

Dillon, Wednesday, 24 March 2004 18:06 (twenty years ago) link

and what are leather jeans anyways? those are two completly different things man.

Dillon, Wednesday, 24 March 2004 18:09 (twenty years ago) link

Emo is fagism.
Emo represents emotional crap
realy people emotional music is like jazz and my grandpa likes that crap.
Dont listen to Dillon known as southpaw
hes an emo freak to

robert Willcutt, Wednesday, 24 March 2004 18:10 (twenty years ago) link

Thats why they wear the clothes they do. To not ridicule people on what youre wearing.

Is that why every emo kid wears a v-neck pullover sweater, corduroy pants, black-rimmed glasses, and a pair of Saucony sneakers? It's easier not to ridicule when you're issued a uniform, I guess.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 18:12 (twenty years ago) link

Dillion and Robert, please continue in your discussion, I think we have a good dialogue going here. Robert I'd like you to explore further about exactly how emo=fagism. And do you think emo (which is really nothing, but fagism) and all this gay marraige hub-bub are somehow related?

christhamrin (christhamrin), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 18:41 (twenty years ago) link

Best thread revive ever.

Alright im in class now. Im constintly looking to make sure the teacher is coming near, so my mind is scattered when I write and it may not come out what I mean. Mr. Johnny Fever, we wear these clothes b/c theyre not fashionable. Theyre cheap and you can find them anywhere, unlike, say Abercrombie or Gap. We think its retarded to laugh at another person b/c their clothes aren't as expensive. So yes we do have a certain type of clothes we wear. But we dont ridicule you b/c what you wear isn't the fashion. Thats the idea around our clothes.

Dillon, Thursday, 25 March 2004 18:08 (twenty years ago) link

Ah, but they are fashionable. Have you ever seen a Gap commercial on television (oh wait, lemme guess...you're above watching tv)? Messy hair, nerd glasses, corduroys, etc. If you really wanted to wear something that was cheap and you could find in thrift stores everywhere, you'd all be wearing tapered cuff acid-washed jeans, Polo-style knit shirts, and canvas boat shoes. I've yet to see an emo kid sporting some 14-year-old "Hammer" pants, but I'll buy that gue a drink when I do.

Don't tell me you're not going for a certain, highly manicured style.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Friday, 26 March 2004 17:39 (twenty years ago) link

gue=guy

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Friday, 26 March 2004 17:40 (twenty years ago) link

Mr. Johnny Fever you have the right idea. if there were more people like us there would be no gay emo crap.

Robert willcutt, Friday, 26 March 2004 17:55 (twenty years ago) link

Good job Mr. Fever. You got me. Here's my response. There is such a thing as posuers in this world. An Emo kid shopping at the Gap is like calling rap music. It's an oxymoron. It doesn't fit. Gap took up Emo as a marketing technique. A true emo wouldn't be caught dead there. However there ARE emo kids who do. You dont have to wear the clothes to be emo. And vice versa. Heres a fun thing to check out. www.emogame.com. In game two they actually make fun of Gap. What are the odds? Its pretty accurate on all aspects of the genre/clothes/ and complete style of Emo's. Play it. Just make sure mommy and daddy aren't in the room as you do.

Dillon, Friday, 26 March 2004 18:01 (twenty years ago) link

shut up dillon
emo sucks and it always will!

Robert you're not giving me facts. At least Johny Fever did and thats why I congratulated him. Give me facts and reasoning to back up what you think and you wont come off as ignorant as you are.

Dillon, Friday, 26 March 2004 18:07 (twenty years ago) link

Alright dillon here are your facts of how crapy emo is.
1. Emo is emotional and slow most of the time. you hear the music on soap operas.
2. Emo is one of the least listened to music besides classic and the blues.
3.(there could be alot more) Emo is so stuid people dont go to concerts to listen to people who sing on how crapy there life is! i mean come on people

bnw (bnw), Friday, 26 March 2004 19:56 (twenty years ago) link

I don't know why I'm bothering, I just wanted to say in some places, like NYC, it's cheaper and easier to buy your clothes at the gap then it is to go to the freaking salvation army and try to find some cool t-shirt, because all the cool emo t-shirts have been bought by designer types to sell for 80 bucks at little boutiques in nolita.
