I was in Germany, getting ready to leave Luebbeck to head for Luzern, Switzerland on tour with the BSO; the only people in the choir who even knew who she was were me, my wife, and a friend we'd made before joining the chorus who encouraged us to audition.

The 2004 expanded edition of Aaliyah will make my top ten of the decade. Super album.

We need her now, more than ever. 8 years and I still can't listen to "Let Me Know (At Your Best)" without tears.
― Spinspin Sugah, Thursday, 27 August 2009 00:04 (sixteen years ago)
She was one of my favorites too. R.I.P.

OK, I'd never heard "Don't Know What To Tell Ya" before and this is pretty awesome, but it's still pretty weird to rep for a random German edition of the album with a few bonus tracks when the original LP is great as is

somehow I never heard this until a year or two ago and was totally bowled over by what an amazing talent we'd lost when I heard it

this chopped & screwed aaliyah album is incredibly bizarre, interesting, beautiful & heartbreaking -- i still listen to it from time to time

by album i mean mix
As I said on the thread over there -- my one fervent wish, beyond sympathy for all the bereaved, is that there be no horribly maudlin tribute records. "I'll Be Missing You" or "Candle in The Wind '97" were more than enough.

yeah the jay z remix of "i miss you" and the video w/ all her friends and the DMX speech at the start kinda bucked this trend. beautiful song and a sweet tribute

not embarrassing, completely natural
― lex pretend, Thursday, 14 April 2011 07:45 (fifteen years ago)
i think her vocals on this song are my fav by her, at least the first half of the song
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 14 April 2011 07:46 (fifteen years ago)
Her "Choosy Lover" just makes me want to listen to the original, whereas she makes "At Your Best" her own.
