I think, in the following years, yes, it did prove to not be that easy for Mr. Love.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 17 August 2005 15:47 (twenty years ago)

Jason Mraz is way worse than G Love though...wow I saw him on Austin City Limits and what a self-satisfied smug lil' bastard he is....I wish someone would take a dump on his knit cap.

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Wednesday, 17 August 2005 15:48 (twenty years ago)

I do enjoy a good sauce, though not anything cream-based. If it's tomato stock, I'm down with it.

kornrulez6969 (TCBeing), Wednesday, 17 August 2005 15:51 (twenty years ago)

It's difficult not to admire a man who wrote an entire song about how he enjoys liquid refreshment if chilled to a below-average temperature. He should have called it "Thumbs Up for Refrigeration!"

n/a (Nick A.), Wednesday, 17 August 2005 15:58 (twenty years ago)

I can't remember anything off of that first album except the hook of "Cold Beverages", but I know for a fact I listened to it on a near daily basis in that summer between high school and college when I got royally wasted on a nightly basis with this gaggle of supreme bitches that were all from this rich people McNeighborhood across town.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 17 August 2005 16:01 (twenty years ago)

It was like hanging out with 7 Parker Poseys from Dazed & Confused.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 17 August 2005 16:03 (twenty years ago)

This record made me want to wear(/be?) a wifebeater.

Actually, my wife quite likes them!

Adam In Real Life (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 17 August 2005 16:03 (twenty years ago)

What a weird summer that was. I like cold beverages.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 17 August 2005 16:03 (twenty years ago)

YOU ARE ALL EVIL

strng hlkngtn, Wednesday, 17 August 2005 16:11 (twenty years ago)

Are they regarded as deities in Philadelphia? I can see G Love's gold-plated pimpmobile rolling around downtown now on diamante rims, a cooler full of tasty cold beverages in the back. Yeah, it's that easy.

Adam In Real Life (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 17 August 2005 16:15 (twenty years ago)

I AM SHOOTING HOOPS YES

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 17 August 2005 16:22 (twenty years ago)

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 17 August 2005 16:25 (twenty years ago)

fucking hell his band's name is SPECIAL SAUCE

gear (gear), Wednesday, 17 August 2005 16:58 (twenty years ago)

yeah, that coke commercial makes me embarrassed that I used to love his first CD

Dominique (dleone), Wednesday, 17 August 2005 17:49 (twenty years ago)

My defence of G Love : I once saw him playing one of those industry guest list type gigs at the Borderline in London (I think I paid to get in!). Everyone in the audience spent the entire set talking, but he carried on like a trooper, albeit looking a bit embarrassed. The guy's a professional!

Is that a defence or an attack? I'm not sure.

I remember that one song - "Blues Music" was it? Blues music. Yeah right.

Matt #2 (Matt #2), Wednesday, 17 August 2005 18:18 (twenty years ago)

G Love, playin' the blues

gear (gear), Wednesday, 17 August 2005 18:22 (twenty years ago)

Oh, I remember "Blues Music" now! It actually was a pretty good jam, probably because it wasn't actually a blues song, but a song about liking blues music.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 17 August 2005 18:27 (twenty years ago)

Cold drinks, music he liked to listen to, dude sure did hit on some IMPORTANT, TOPICAL shit, lyrically.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 17 August 2005 18:28 (twenty years ago)

Jesus fucking Christ, google image search sure does make it hard to maintain an even slightly pro-G. stance:

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 17 August 2005 18:29 (twenty years ago)

Is that a G-Love RealDoll?

Cold beverages are pretty delicious.

Whiney G. Weingarten (whineyg), Wednesday, 17 August 2005 18:44 (twenty years ago)

What about COLD BLOOD?

n/a (Nick A.), Wednesday, 17 August 2005 18:44 (twenty years ago)

I wonder if Coca-Cola tried to buy the rights to "Cold Beverages" and like Budweiser or somebody already has some kinda holding agreement with it and so they were like "okay G., how 'bout you give us a, you know, 'Cold Beverages' part TWO".

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 17 August 2005 18:47 (twenty years ago)

He talked like Max Perlich.

huell howser (chaki), Wednesday, 17 August 2005 19:59 (twenty years ago)

Oh jeez, I forgot to mention that Semisonic and Citizen King reminded me of the summer of '98 as well. (Or was the former '99?) Christ, I'm scaring myself.

Ian Riese-Moraine: a casualty of social estrangement. (Eastern Mantra), Wednesday, 17 August 2005 20:00 (twenty years ago)

i think the probability of gareth liking them is appraching zero

ambrose (ambrose), Wednesday, 17 August 2005 20:00 (twenty years ago)

I'd like to see Gareth in a knit cap and a goatee air-drumming to Manu Chao.

Adam In Real Life (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 17 August 2005 20:06 (twenty years ago)

WTF Scott - where are you getting this shit? Where are these lists coming from, eh??? I have some of my sister's stuff in my house - she has a lot of nineties crap I don't listen to. That doesn't mean I listen to it or like it, but even if I did....what business is it of yours posting everything that was found in my apartment? I'd really like to know. I have thousands and thousands of things, I guess some jealous misogynist indie boys really have a problem with it, but aren't willing to report a crime. That makes you an accessory.

The Popish Plot (dymaxia), Wednesday, 17 August 2005 20:45 (twenty years ago)

I mean, ILM has turned into the pathetic indie boy gaslighting board. And you wonder why only fake women post here.

The Popish Plot (dymaxia), Wednesday, 17 August 2005 20:46 (twenty years ago)

They got into my itunes as well...at work and at home.

I want confessions....NOW.

The Popish Plot (dymaxia), Wednesday, 17 August 2005 20:49 (twenty years ago)

anyone not from philly cannot truly feel the pain
