did anyone reach theo @ plastic people on sunday? so good. really want an id on the first track he played, a slow lurching shuffley house groove replete with out of time massively swung hi hats and a guy singing "we're going downstairs, we're going downstairs" or something for like 15 minutes. pretty sure it was a theo production. i lost my mind at the point where he dropped what i assume was one of the ugly edits that i aint heard yet, 20 + minutes of this shivery funk guitar thing that culminated in dudes literally on their hands and knees pounding the ground in some kind of religious fervour. so so good. he played lots of good acid as well in his everything-and-the-kitchen sink stylee.

Is this a positive or negative statement "yoga flame for all time"? If I had heard one, I guess I'd know judging by whether he fiddled with the EQ on them, but are you telling me to get this or not.

i like the b-side of ugly edit ten (which i paid 16 or 17 bucks for at dr wax - the cheapest its sold?) but the a-side (i think) was less good. ugly edit 7 is the best i've heard but i really like a fair number of them

C'mon, surely someone else wants to gush with me. This is the first time in quite a while I've completely abandoned my frantic blog downloading because I'm totally content to just sit and listen to this. The immediate standout to me is "The Rink" aka Moodymann Tribute as Ugly Edit. That's gotta be a Marvin sample. And the last disc is perfect. "Soul Control" is a great almost straight-up house tune with great vocals and "Synthetic Flemm" (with Omar S) bangs bangs bangs with acid-y flourishes and is a great kinda-followup to the also great "Renaissance" by T.O.M. Project.

As I said, though, something about this just feels so focused and tight.

Yeah, I saw that Omar S/Theo release too. Luckily Omar S makes his FXHE easier and cheaper to get off the FXHE website as long as it's in stock.

The pressing on the Theo album sounds pretty great to me. Lots of low end thump and crystal clear on the high end.

"Synthetic Flemm", "Soul Control", "They Say", and "The Rink" are ALL sick but in different ways. I'd recommend getting it as soon as possible. Thanks for the recommendation on that Skooby Laposky pipecock. I'm checking it out on Emusic now.

assuming youre talking about falling up, i agree wholeheartedly. i was one of those people hammering on the original off the beatdown comp years before the rmxes. i liked the C2 rmx when it dropped, but it was not stellar enough to stand up to the repeated plays that it got. now i want to buy that double pack just to get the original on a full sided pressing! the technasia rmxes were embarassingly bad, too. ick.
