The actual bad song on WMS is Round x3. Return is saved from being Round x4 by those rinky-dink synths. Club America is Never Enough on Bowie beans, which in theory could be excellent or terrible when imo it isn't either it's just sort of alright. Tin Machine wishes hey hey.

Return is great. Club America, Roundx3 and Strange Attraction are the real duds. The rest is ok but nothing great either. Don’t get me started on ‘Want’ which drags on and ooonn

i think strange attraction is a great lyric with the chintziest possible backing.... therefore i like it

So much with the Cure comes down to, do you tend manic, or do you tend depressive.

I love "Friday I'm In Love" as much as the next Gen Xer. But depressive Cure was always why they were a lasting favorite, and not just like The Wedding Present (whom I dig) with another accent.

Hard to tell from that snippet, yeah drums are a bit weird sounding but at least it doesn’t seem to be laced with nasty little sequenced loops

production is bad enough to kill any enthusiasm i had, which is a shame because the song is otherwise good

the mix is so muddy except for those hideous drums crashing through it

album is only 8 tracks (despite robert saying in recent years that it would be 10 or 12 tracks), no titles yet except "alone" is the opener of course

it being that few tracks might be a more promising sign?

8 long songs is probably better than 12 long songs in avoiding being a slog

the drums on Alone are a relief tbh. There are.. certain other popular drum sounds that could have near sunk this for me.

I was going to say, I don’t get the complaints, ufo. Sounds very lovely and rich, opening minutes made me think of later Cocteaus a bit.

Something in the mix does sounds off, a shame because I do like the actual song a lot, but in music that is so based around textures I think a bad mix stands out more.

yeah I don't get the muddiness complaints. it's no more muddy than disintegration. Mix is better than Underneath the Stars where everything was jacked up to 11.

Maybe the music has been mixed to play loud, so turn it up!
