donna rouge, Friday, 6 September 2024 14:59 (one year ago)

Something Good was another I forgot to reinsert in the new list. though personally i'd opt for the original Don't Go.

All of the above, plus
St Etienne - He's on the phone
JX - There's Nothing I Won't Do (I put this on a 90s playlist fairly recently and my friend was visibly transported back to the 90s)

(Ace of Base - the Sign for sure)

kinder, Friday, 6 September 2024 15:39 (one year ago)

I'd go for "House of Jealous Lovers" but (hey, I know..)

Freddie Mercury - Living on my own

kinder, Friday, 6 September 2024 15:44 (one year ago)

I used to go to an indie disco in the 90s that always ended with Belle & Sebastian - Boy with the Arab Strap.

kinder, Friday, 6 September 2024 15:47 (one year ago)

I'd send 'em home gently with Tony Rich Project's "Nobody Knows."

bratwurst autumn (Eazy), Friday, 6 September 2024 16:01 (one year ago)

Oceanic - Insanity

Yuwen Hu's army (Noodle Vague), Friday, 6 September 2024 16:09 (one year ago)

“James Brown Is Still Alive” - Holy Noise

trm (tombotomod), Friday, 6 September 2024 16:35 (one year ago)

I mean my real answer is this and always will be but it seems to be such a specific time capsule it might be /too/ nineties

Personally I am not a fan but I have noticed lately that crowds lap up the tribal house remixes of Spice Girls that were b-sides at the time

valuable info, salute

he/him hoo-hah (map), Friday, 6 September 2024 16:42 (one year ago)

"big time sensuality" is a must as is "finally", "rhythm of the night" and "show me love"

would be fitting if map played utah saints ;)

“What Can Yo Do For Me” > “Something Good” though

lol, noted. amy grant will be played, as will the jets.

he/him hoo-hah (map), Friday, 6 September 2024 16:45 (one year ago)

maybe not the jets, that's the 80s

he/him hoo-hah (map), Friday, 6 September 2024 16:51 (one year ago)

I love The Jets but all their big songs are from the 80s

laughter is the best weapon (DJP), Friday, 6 September 2024 16:52 (one year ago)

Haha lol

laughter is the best weapon (DJP), Friday, 6 September 2024 16:53 (one year ago)

Klf, utah saints, bizarre Inc

nxd, Friday, 6 September 2024 17:12 (one year ago)

i have totally played these tracks in the 21st century when deejaying at bars. i love these guys. my kinda grindin' newbeat 90s.

scott seward, Friday, 6 September 2024 17:18 (one year ago)

those original versions are the best ones too. there are remixes, etc. i feel like ilm would be the best audience for any dj set i did but you guys are never around and i am kinda retired. there is a basement bar at the bottom of the local live venue here though and i have been considering a cool 80s night with lots of freestyle...

“More Human Than Human” White Zombie

The Artist formerly known as Earlnash, Friday, 6 September 2024 17:27 (one year ago)

Not sure if you want songs that the crowd will know from the recent songs they influenced ("Show Me Love" and "Whores in This House") or if those are too familiar.

C’mon n’ Ride It (the Train) - Quad City DJs

^
This one was maybe my favorite party jam. I remember going to an apartment complex party at IU during little 5 and these omega psi guys took out the screens on a second floor apartment and had bins in the window playing out on the courtyard. They put this on and this party went nuts.

you oughta know - alanis

he/him hoo-hah (map), Friday, 6 September 2024 22:48 (one year ago)

production on that one has aged very well imo

he/him hoo-hah (map), Friday, 6 September 2024 22:55 (one year ago)

"Are You Gonna Go My Way?" sounds great these days as well, as far as pop hits.

bratwurst autumn (Eazy), Saturday, 7 September 2024 00:06 (one year ago)

i have an awesome alanis/trance white label bootleg single from the 90s and now i can't think of what song they use. its not uninvited. shit. i'll have to dig it out. its better than a lot of official remixes i've heard of hers.

Did we get this far already without mentioning FSOL “Papua New Guinea”

trm (tombotomod), Saturday, 7 September 2024 01:07 (one year ago)

also for when you need a bathroom break during dj set:

scott seward, Saturday, 7 September 2024 01:16 (one year ago)

i'd play all the underworld but sadly i think it's gonna be a snooze for my crowd. i might be able to get away with born slippy nuxx. the other one i thought about was king of snake. or rez / cowgirl...

he/him hoo-hah (map), Saturday, 7 September 2024 01:31 (one year ago)

speaking of FSOL - their remix of Stereo MC’s Connected very much slaps imo

update: no one really wanted to hear 90s music last night so i defaulted to my "gay club hits" set (think charli/chappell, rihanna, kesha, gaga, minaj, etc.). i did execute my dumb idea of playing "the rain (supa dupa fly)" after gaga's "rain on me" and basically cleared the floor. the only 90s song that really hit was "man i feel like a woman". it was a joy to play and sounded great. ending things with a lil kim track was also cool, i get so many nicki minaj requests there that she's in the club.

he/him hoo-hah (map), Saturday, 7 September 2024 19:46 (one year ago)

Or the clurb

Piggy Lepton (La Lechera), Saturday, 7 September 2024 20:17 (one year ago)

i have an awesome alanis/trance white label bootleg single from the 90s

Hybrid remix of So Pure?

Siegbran, Saturday, 7 September 2024 20:21 (one year ago)

that might have been it. i really have to try and find it now. there is no info on it other than a title but my old age is showing. blanking on it.

scott seward, Saturday, 7 September 2024 20:24 (one year ago)

i fucking adore "The Rain" but it's more a walking home tune than an in the clurb tune

Yuwen Hu's army (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 7 September 2024 21:32 (one year ago)

the only 90s song that really hit was "man i feel like a woman"

Queer Gen Z line dancing is a big thing these days!
