I never got into Oasis until my partner, who is a big fan, so I gave them a good listen just to find some common ground. I'd say for a couple of years (1994 and 1995), they really were excellent, even churning out a lot of top-notch non-album material to go along with Definitely Maybe and Morning Glory. That's pretty much all the Oasis I'd go back to, but that's still quite a bit of music.
― birdistheword, Monday, 26 August 2024 21:02 (one year ago)
It really is all you need. But its unlikely they would stick to just that material.

― vodkaitamin effrtvescent (calzino), Monday, 26 August 2024 21:21 (one year ago)
listening to morning glory. as ever it strikes me that 'hey now!' is the most album tracky album track ever. lengthy, a bit tuneless, no one's favourite, there in good spirits as a breather between the big hitters.

ffs top news story on BBC and Sky. This fucking country.
― Defund Phil Collins (Tom D.), Tuesday, 27 August 2024 07:06 (one year ago)
So is there going to be a thread of ILXors going?
― Mark G, Tuesday, 27 August 2024 07:10 (one year ago)
Painful watching TV presenters and reporters under 40 - which is most of them - having to act like they give a fuck.
― Defund Phil Collins (Tom D.), Tuesday, 27 August 2024 07:11 (one year ago)
Ah, back in the day the presenters were old and were like "um, Kurt Cobian of Nirvana? has just died we'll have some information later in the show..."
― Mark G, Tuesday, 27 August 2024 07:18 (one year ago)
Kay Burley running amok asking every interviewee if they are Oasis fans and bullying her co-presenter into saying he likes them, "What, you're not an Oasis fan?"
― Defund Phil Collins (Tom D.), Tuesday, 27 August 2024 07:24 (one year ago)
Ticket prices? Ah, secret...

Ticketmaster's dynamic pricing algorithm is going to have a field day
― the article don, Tuesday, 27 August 2024 09:53 (one year ago)
The ticket buying equivalent of the darwin awards; for an Oasis gig in 2024 you deserve the prices you're willing to pay

There's definitely a Cockney walk, a guy I used to work with had it. There's also a Glasgow/West of Scotland walk. The latter is more of a strut, so is the former but not as marked.
― Defund Phil Collins (Tom D.), Tuesday, 27 August 2024 10:33 (one year ago)
This is great.

I joined the hot take tsunami this morning, spending 10 minutes talking about Oasis on BBC Radio Nottingham. Turns out that the presenter is a passionate lifelong fan, so I enjoyed taking a broadly contrary stance.
― mike t-diva, Tuesday, 27 August 2024 11:04 (one year ago)
the brotherly feud was entirely confected right? like, it was just a bit of myth-building while they made bad solo records and waited for the brand to be worth something again
― Cognosc in Tyrol (emsworth), Tuesday, 27 August 2024 11:39 (one year ago)
Yeah, I touched on that subject on the radio show: a friend of a friend spotted them at a secret Verve show at the 100 Club, a couple of years after the band split, relaxed and enjoying each other's company.
― mike t-diva, Tuesday, 27 August 2024 11:46 (one year ago)
Should be good news for the tribute bands, maybe No Way Sis can reform too? In fact, do tribute acts ever announce big reformations?
I met Paul Gallagher once (useless third brother), he seemed desperate for me to know who he was.

I'm sure they despise each other regularly and will continue to do so.

Bonehead gets some prominent screen time in their official vid, so I guess he's going be doing guest spots. It appears he's the only original member everyone likes

Afaict he's also the only one who's had anything to do with either of them (Liam namely and recently) in the years since.

dadness in their eyes
― kinder, Tuesday, 27 August 2024 13:25 (one year ago)
Sadly the best (most annoyongly right) opinion I found
Oasis were a state funded counterinsurgency deployed to reestablish white nationalist cultural hegemony when 90s pop culture dared to drift into multiculturalism for two minutes. They’re part of the same ensemble as Farage and Tommy, don’t @ me— Arbeitology (@Arbeit_Fish) August 27, 2024
― xyzzzz__, Tuesday, 27 August 2024 13:29 (one year ago)
Well hey at least the state was giving some funding to the arts back then.

Funny how this reunion has happened not long after Noel Gallagher announced his latest divorce. Ian Brown did a similar thing getting The Stone Roses back together after a costly divorce a decade ago.

Seeing a few UK twitter posts that are like 'suede reunion plz', which is funny because they were overtaken quite quickly.

Suede shared top billing with John Major at some Festival of Ideas last year or thereabouts, some laughs on social media about travelling back in time and informing the band of this. Also last spot on an ILX best albums of the year poll some time ago.
