Acclaimed Music Top 50 Albums from 2019 poll

This is it!

I have done this series from the 1960s through 2010s, which is 60 years worth of polls for both songs and albums. The 1950s could be interesting, as it is a black hole for me, but I think it has run it course. If I'm around in another 10 years maybe I will do this decade.

Thanks everyone who participated over the years, it has been a fun rollercoaster ride. End of an era, let's go out with a bang.

It's Purple Mountains buyt I'm gonna give Fontaines the pick cos no one else is. The best band of the nu-post-punk school.

These new puritans my number 2 out this list, do think Reeds was a better record but Rose is an incredible album

Wanted to vote Purple Mountains because I'm clinically depressed but uh Resonant Body had a _very significant_ impact on my life. Gotta be that.

Maybe PROTO because I saw Holly do it live - even though there was constant chatting throughout, causing large parts of the audience to sssshhhh the other parts

I have been obsessed with Lana Del Rey lately and played Norman Fucking Rockwell! for the first time ever like a month ago. So tempting.

afaic ivy is kinda right: this year was underwhelming, with 2 total underdog winners: jerkcurb + possibly the last ever appleseed cast album. all but one of my top picks aren't even repped here, so i'm not sure what to vote for. my ranked list from the time looks like:

jerkcurb - air con eden
abdullah ibrahim - the balance
thom yorke - anima [have cooled on this significantly since]
james blake - assume form
appleseed cast - fleeting light of impermanence [would be #2 in hindsight]
william tyler - goes west/dispatches from echo magic
shana cleveland - night of the worm moon
blues lawyer - something different
burial - claustro/state forest [TECHNICALLY not an album, but whatever]
rustin man - drift code
the ocean blue - kings and queens/knaves and thieves

terrible year, I think this is when I began to tune out a lot of more popular stuff and just go down rabbithole niches via Bandcamp

going with No Home Record, which i think is a LOT better than The Collective. also really like Thank U, Next and Songs For You.

I'm an idiot. I think that is the only mistake I made over the seven years of doing this poll? As stated before Acclaimed data base doesn't quite have 50 choices so I play with the bubbling under part and checked a few other places. I wanted to make sure that album made it but work distracted me and went too fast.

Hey Michael, I'm also voting for Fontaines DC! Surprised how much I liked that record as I don't feel like I need more of that sort of thing, but it's different enough that it grabs me.

Voted for Dedicated (still my favourite CRJ album) but yeah it does look like kind of a lean year based on this list. I do like the These New Puritans album a lot though.

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - Ghosteen - I find this record remarkable every time i listen to it.
For 2019, my runner up is Jessica Pratt's "Quiet Signs". When the weather starts to cool in the early fall, this record rarely leaves my turntable.

My album of 2019 was Christian Scott which isn't here but I'd vote for in a heartbeat.

My number (2) was Slowthai, but I haven't listened to it since the pandemic - a good reminder to reivst. Otherwise, of these it's These New Puritans for sure, a massive album for me.

I only discovered American Football (in general) after 2019 but yes that album is awesome.

Heard Dedicated for the first time because of this exercise. My only black hole in my CRJ listening experience. She doesn't have a bad album all of them are, at least, great.
