pr que (k3vin k.), Monday, 17 August 2009 04:28 (sixteen years ago)

didn't realize this was a cover (would assume jordan didn't either)

louturistic jag (The Reverend), Monday, 17 August 2009 04:36 (sixteen years ago)

yeah I've known about this song for years and the rap part doesn't really take the song anywhere the original doesn't go.

the remix is officially Beggin' (Pilooski Re-Edit)

musically, Monday, 17 August 2009 04:37 (sixteen years ago)

holy shit I've been hearing that Beggin song and thinking it's the Black Eyed Peas and Fergie has done the world the favor of sitting one out.

& they talked about "fucking a behive", literally, 4 times (Whitey on the Moon), Monday, 17 August 2009 06:19 (sixteen years ago)

last summer when I was dancing the DJ dropped it in the middle of this set that had been very disco/chi house with bits of like De La Soul and stuff and when this came on everyone went insane, it was kindof great because it had been this ridiculously tasteful set and then this was this dodgy summer hit, but it sat so well and made so much sense with everything else he played (he followed it with Peech boys Don't make me wait iirc)

been hearing the new r kelly/hilson joint on the radio a bit. i think it's kinda good but i don't really buy hilson as some freak sex slave and it's really silly to hear her singing about being a "chocoholic" and shit on a song with the dirtiest and most shameless singer in r&b. they should've had someone else sing.

geir ham, go (J0rdan S.), Tuesday, 18 August 2009 18:56 (sixteen years ago)

woof, i gotta hear that. sounds messy.

some dude, Thursday, 27 August 2009 13:12 (sixteen years ago)

listened to mario's what the game's been missing mixtape - nothing special, and not particularly feeling the new material so much, but him doing a couple covers on old beats kinda reminds you how distinctive a vocalist he can be. also this thing - not saying i want him to do a gnarls barkley omg omg or anything, but he does sound really good in a way i guess i'd not considered before, or maybe in a way that i had been aware of but is cartoonishly deployed to its extreme limit here.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hrt1vIr2cp0

really tricky pinning that strange quality in his voice he has down in words exactly.

r|t|c, Thursday, 27 August 2009 18:25 (sixteen years ago)

you have no idea how crestfallen I am that Mario has a mixtape with the words "the game" in the title and the cover art is not some kind of Super Mario Bros. photoshop

this is nice! but then of course it would be. it's funny with teedra these days, personally i'm finding it a little unnerving trying to like, objectively assess how good her new stuff is now that it pops up every now and then on interwebs, on a mixtape, and so forth. it all seemed so sure in 03 - that inviting warmth of predestiny that bam, a record, "from the forthcoming album", brought. i don't want it to be a cassie fan club situation for me to have to animate this stuff in my head all the time.

still, despite all that young hustla vol 3 remains great, and i bump it often - if i deigned to fuck with such things i'm even pretty sure it'd make a best of 09 list of mine. i suppose no one else bothered getting it though.

r|t|c, Wednesday, 9 September 2009 15:26 (sixteen years ago)

also her twitter is pretty hood, i quite enjoy it.

also also i just watched an interview and she says she likes lady gaga. quite right too.

Have we discussed the fact that the new album by my mans Trey Songz includes a song called "I Invented Sex"?

super-gay-crazy bitch-made devil-racist beast-mode swag (The Reverend), Friday, 11 September 2009 03:10 (sixteen years ago)

i heard that on the radio the other day, it features drake and is far more eye-rolling than it is o_O

Eat A Twix Kiddo (some dude), Friday, 11 September 2009 04:26 (sixteen years ago)

lloyd was so real in 04 he also sampled 'beat box' on that same album too but i'm guessing ur all okay for youtubes right now. i kinda mislaid my lloyd fan club membership card this year and whats worse am pretty sure that trey songz mixtape is to blame :(

r|t|c, Thursday, 17 September 2009 23:45 (sixteen years ago)

oh thats murda mo not mo murda

deej, Thursday, 17 September 2009 23:46 (sixteen years ago)

that trey songz mixtape was pretty great

"make it rain" is awesome.

matt damon & the jb's (the anephric project), Thursday, 17 September 2009 23:51 (sixteen years ago)

yeah i can't hate, it really was. even the new proper album's... well, there's plenty stuff you can clown in there but on the whole it's better than a lot of things, especially this year. but ultimately yes it does lack that ugh-how-did-this-idiot-seduce-me walk of shame appeal the mixtape has.

troy taylor who produced a lot of it is a veteran of 90s rnb filler btw! http://www.discogs.com/artist/Characters%2C+The (clutching at straws, who me?)
