this song is terrible and Katy Perry was an indefensible figure even before it but there's something very obvious and redundant about the way publications are tripping over themselves to print savage reviews of this. Anyone with a passing interest in pop culture knows that making a self-declared feminist anthem with Dr Luke is a disaster and nobody is having their experience of this song changed by some punchlines about the dead nun, it's too easy a target for me to be impressed by a takedown review

Tom March’s Team Capitol has all hands on deck to roll out new music from superstar Katy Perry, whose single “Woman’s World” dropped this week ahead of new album 143 (due 9/20).

The set finds Perry reuniting with longtime collaborator Dr. Luke, with whom she made her biggest records, as well as hitmaker extraordinaire Max Martin.

“Woman’s World,” which spawned a wild, irreverent, proudly feminist video (see below), is off to a strong start: The vid is the #1 trending clip on YouTube, and the song is expected to notch north of 3m global Spotify streams on day one. “World” also quickly made the Top 5 at iTunes.

Expect Greg Marella and his promo squad to ensure a huge look at radio, which is already said to be champing at the bit for this track.

What other tricks does the Katy crew have up its collective sleeve? What surprises await on the album, which Perry has said was titled for her “angel number?” Speaking of numbers, everyone involved here has told us to lose theirs.

reality: this "proudly feminist" video is probably the only youtube upload for a song this side of nicki minaj's "big foot" whose comments are full of criticism and outright mockery, its spotify streams debuted with well under that projected amount and will probably decline from there. oh but at least it was briefly top 5 on itunes and the programmers who're still spinning miley's "flowers" and weeknd's "die for you" are lining up to add it!!

I just watched the video and it’s not anything special in the world of Katy Perry videos. The song itself is a nonentity begging for a hi-energy remix that ditches the verses. I think the only reason anyone is even paying attention to this is because Dr. Like sucks.

as much as I appreciate a good Katy Perry pile on this song isn't even that bad. its like the song you'd hear at the end of a movie that airs on the Disney channel at 1 PM about a girl who didn't make the high school softball team. she doesn't have Meghan Trainor's natural talent for taking such things to the next level. the video on the other hand makes me feel like I'm at the strip club after getting castrated and then lobotomized on the same day

What's funny is at one point I kind of thought KP was likable, maybe due to my perception that she didn't take herself very seriously, but over time you kind of want people like that to actually be funny and not just seeming a bit irreverent. I think this song is kind of interesting because of the backstory as roxy noted in addition to it being thoroughly terrible. I think actually it's not necessarily a markedly worse than a lot of her songs, she's generally pretty bad (though I frequently find her only as bad as a lot of other bad pop music, she seems typically representative of a lot of aspects of modern pop that I really dislike), but a lot of the surrounding stuff takes it to another level.

i finally listened to this song via the video and i think it's fine. i've softened on her exaggerated red state appeal. she always just did that libidinal guns-and-trucks america fantasia pretty well, if the gays want some of that i'll throw it in with the gaga and the beyonce (i got a request for this from a queen last saturday). dr. luke sucks and i wish someone else could step into his moroder updated via electrohouse / edm sound, it's just a great gay party sound, poppers in audio form. this particular song is a little .. subdued tbh? maybe even subtle for her lol. it sounds classy compared to kim petras of the last 3 years tho.
