So much better than the Island version.

I don't think it's tremendously different than the Island version, but the sequencing is much better.
The three new tracks are also very good, and definitely more flashy/dancey than what they replaced.
The nine tracks from Don't Stop V1 look to be left untouched.

For anyone who fancies it, Annie will be DJing in Manchester and our club 'Clique' on Friday November 27th. Her first DJ gig outside of London in the UK we think.

I Don't Like Your Band coulds be a big hit i'd have thought. Even the NME seem to think so this week, the album getting a glowing 8/10 review from them. Whatever next?!

She was pretty good last night supporting Saint Etienne, she has some stage presence now.

Yeah all round good reports from that Saint Etienne gig. She started with Chewing Gum by all accounts? I'd love to have seen that.

For reasons that escape me, I'm rooting for her, and this album.

I feel like that early review, which called the disc a "pop classic," weighed around the project's neck like an anchor.

It's strange to me that the songs that apparently were slated to be (or were) singles when the album was with Island Records are now relegated to a bonus disc. I'm curious to know if that's because the new label and/or Annie felt the other material was much stronger, or if it's because those songs -- e.g., I Know Your Boyfriend Hates Me, Antonio -- have already had too much circulation to be suitable for a ''new'' Annie album. I also wonder if the new label and/or Annie are trying to distance the album from its time at Island Records. Anyway, I thought those singles were good!

phil that night was good for other reasons, though, i seem to remember. though i'm not actually remembering at all.

I find it really disappointed that we had to wait so long for this, as good as the album may be, it hard to get excited for something you've already listened to so many times and already moved on. This is the kind of music that NEEDS to sound fresh, IMO. So yeah, maybe album of the year... but which year?

That said, the Paul Epworth tracks are brilliant. I think he may now be my favorite producer.

The only songs I've heard so far are those that were relegated to the bonus disc. Maybe they put some normally A-side singles on the bonus disc for exactly the reasons you mention.

I bought it in A SHOP last night.

Am about to listen to it, and quite glad I avoided all the leaks and things, so that I can come to it with fresh ears.

really dug it on first listen, one or two throwaways (the breakfast song reminds me of CoS' housework song for some reason) but the high points are more interesting if not better than the first lp..

Looking at my "to listen to" I suddenly had the MOST AMAZING vision of the BEST. MUSIC. EVER.

I kind of see what people have been saying about the production now. It's been held back for so long that a lot of the songs sound a bit... well, dated. This is the problem with pop, it ends up being so much "of the moment" that holding something back for 2 years can mean that it comes out feeling ... just slightly wrong.

Her last album still sounds fresh and perfect to me.

I just noticed this on Spotify - Spencer utterly otm, so gorgeous.

Actually, I kinda reverse what I was writing up there.

The album took a while to grow on me, but the more I played it, the more I liked of it.

Now, I think, with hindsight, it might seem that the first album seemed "perfect and fresh" when it first came out. However, I distinctly remember feeling a bit "meh" about it the first few times I heard it, and that it took a while (and repeatedly hearing Chewing Gum out) until it finally clicked.

I do think that my experience of this album is kinda similar to that.

Not feeling this disc at all yet. It lacks the charm and warmth of Anniemal.

Really wish "The Wedding" was a better song.

Longer, actually. More fleshed out.

The last three songs really spoil this album. Why on earth was Anthonio left off the final tracklisting when those Xenomania leftovers made it?

the whole thing seems to be getting some right across the board great to amazing reviews from beard strokers to pop kids alike. it's heartwarming!

i don't think i like this album.

It's . . . okay, maybe? Totally forgettable.

And that's a shame, because I loved her prior disc. This one seems so lifeless and cold by comparison.

for me anniemal may have had slightly better songwriting but i prefer the sound of this one way way more

Well I think I prefer this one like a hundred times times more, but then I never really though Anniemal was that great, so...

My only problem with the album doesn't really have to do with the album itself, more like the way it was released, marketed, etc. That took away much of the excitement. A complete disaster!
