I’m halfway done. Hoping to finish in the next few days but it may be right at the deadline.

I haven't had time to record the lyrics I wrote, but I will send Maresn3s audio tomorrow, I promise.

poppers fueled buttsex crescendo (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Sunday, 10 March 2024 20:42 (two months ago) link

All good — just have it to me by Friday (and that goes for the rest of you!)

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 10 March 2024 20:42 (two months ago) link

song's music and lyrics are written, and guide track recorded. hoping to have my friend collaborate on it - if for some unlikely reason we can't work that out, my backup plan is I will record it as a solo track (and keep Bo Jackson Overdrive name either way, as it works as both a group name and a solo act name).

but the hard part is done thankfully, lol...had such bad writer's block and rewrote it from scratch at least once.

This has been a good exercise in underscoring several of my many limitations.

Josh in Chicago, Monday, 11 March 2024 22:57 (two months ago) link

OK, I've got a good problem to have. I've ended up with *two* tracks, one DIY, and a totally different one I made with the help of a ringer. Neither has lyrics, but if Taylor has made it this far releasing nothing but instrumentals, so can I. The challenge is deciding which one to submit!

Josh in Chicago, Wednesday, 13 March 2024 21:23 (two months ago) link

I am awaiting Alfred's voice, he's cutting it fine :)

Maresn3st, Wednesday, 13 March 2024 22:53 (two months ago) link

Thanks to everyone for getting in their cuts so far -- you have two days! Will have an update post in a bit, still catching up on mail after my conference break.

He is!

Just emailed you Ned.

a hoy hoy, Thursday, 14 March 2024 13:19 (two months ago) link

Got it! (Sorry, STILL catching up with email -- will aim to have an updated 'got it' list posted much later today. Tonight? These last few days have been weird!)

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 14 March 2024 15:16 (two months ago) link

Ned my file was too big to send through standard email so I tried to share it w/ you via Google Drive - it should have sent you an email from ilxemaildump at gmail dot com.

let me know if received when you can! relieved it's done. I love performing music, I hate recording it, but this was a fun absurdist song to write.

CEO Greedwagon (Neanderthal), Thursday, 14 March 2024 15:48 (two months ago) link

Hmm, I don't *think* I see it, but I'll go through my mailbox as I can to let you know.

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 14 March 2024 20:23 (two months ago) link

Juuust in case sent the link manually again from my email...topic has Neanderthal in it

CEO Greedwagon (Neanderthal), Thursday, 14 March 2024 22:10 (two months ago) link

Comfortably numbnuts (Heez), Friday, 15 March 2024 11:58 (two months ago) link

I think my friend that helped out (a lot) had more fun than I did, lol. I asked him if he wanted credit and he looked at me like I was crazy.

Josh in Chicago, Friday, 15 March 2024 21:53 (two months ago) link

Haha. "Please specifically NOT credit me."

Ned Raggett, Friday, 15 March 2024 21:55 (two months ago) link

Been without power most of the day as yesterday's windstorm here in the foothills knocked a tree over the transformer across the street. SoCal Edison finally getting to it now - update that to *late* tonight.

Elvis Telecom, Saturday, 16 March 2024 01:30 (two months ago) link

All good!

Ned Raggett, Saturday, 16 March 2024 01:46 (two months ago) link

still fiddling around on account of my overestimation of my ability to use Vocaloid (have only ever plugged in random vowel sounds, conjuring actual words is slightly more complex, haha) but will absolutely have Taylor's next banger sorted at some point this evening

has anyone volunteered for the boudoir photoshoot (for the album art/WDYLL thread)

Florin Cuchares, Saturday, 16 March 2024 04:56 (two months ago) link

sent

Comfortably numbnuts (Heez), Saturday, 16 March 2024 06:23 (two months ago) link

Got it!

Ned Raggett, Saturday, 16 March 2024 13:44 (two months ago) link

Got quick updates from sarahell and kurt s that time had snuck up on them but they'll aim to have something in the near future (we have time given the 'release date' of April 1); combined with Elvis T and florin's updates here we're on track. If for any reason a gap DOES open up, is there anyone else who can claim a spot? H.P., are you free again?

Ned Raggett, Saturday, 16 March 2024 17:11 (two months ago) link

How is it sounding, Ned? Have any themes emerged?

This is Dance Anthems, have some respect (Camaraderie at Arms Length), Saturday, 16 March 2024 17:42 (two months ago) link

Theme: "bad music" from all pre-homo sapien musician

CEO Greedwagon (Neanderthal), Saturday, 16 March 2024 17:46 (two months ago) link

Actually mega excited to hear everyone's songs

CEO Greedwagon (Neanderthal), Saturday, 16 March 2024 17:46 (two months ago) link

It is a thing of wonder. (As of this point, Neanderthal's song is the longest; front tea for two's is the shortest.)

Ned Raggett, Saturday, 16 March 2024 18:00 (two months ago) link

If there is an emergency, I do have an extra track that another friend of mine and I devised that sounds like really lush hold music, free to anyone that feels like adding vocals/anything.

Josh in Chicago, Saturday, 16 March 2024 18:24 (two months ago) link

I never actually finished mine so let me know if I can keep tinkering. Staying up until 2:30 to “finish” it was a bad idea. As with college papers, I sent what I had.

Comfortably numbnuts (Heez), Saturday, 16 March 2024 19:02 (two months ago) link

throwing my name in as a backup to the backups

xpost Feel free to tinker! But there will be a final deadline, no fixing “Wolves” here.

Ned Raggett, Saturday, 16 March 2024 20:09 (two months ago) link

m bison: noted, will follow up as needed!

Ned Raggett, Saturday, 16 March 2024 21:48 (two months ago) link

Okay the stragglers are coming in, we're down to Elvis Telecom, florin and sarahell...

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 20 March 2024 02:11 (two months ago) link

I know I haven't been about much for the past few years but I'm not sure I would have resisted putting something together for the Post Malone track using just samples from Fortnite and him saying "should we sample this?"

Hello I'm shitty gatsworth (aldo), Wednesday, 20 March 2024 09:53 (two months ago) link

FINALLY have full power restored to the house so I can bring it on home. The windstorm knocked out the neutral line to the house - when power first came back automatically after the first blackout on Thursday, there were still lines down and the resulting voltage spike killed a half-dozen surge suppressers, along with a microwave, a dishwasher, and *fuckfuckfuck* my SL-1200MK3. The first two can be repaired, replaced if absolutely necessary but I'm standing vigil for my turntable.

Elvis Telecom, Wednesday, 20 March 2024 10:21 (two months ago) link

Josh in Chicago, Wednesday, 20 March 2024 12:38 (two months ago) link
