Tough not to vote for "Ashes to Ashes", probably my favourite Bowie single
― Saxophone Of Futility (Michael B), Sunday, 19 November 2023 16:33 (two years ago)
A lot of really fantastic songs there but “Everybody’s Got to Learn Sometime” is an all time favourite for me, such a beautiful record.

I know about half of these songs
I will never "get" 2nd wave ska but otherwise there's a lot of great stuff here
my heart tells me to vote blondie even if that's a boring choice
I have never been able to decide whether I like "babooshka" or not

Fairly easy vote for 'Upside Down', single of that year. Bowie close behind though.
Split Enz the only one I can't actually recall.

Stomp! just ahead of Upside Down
― or something, Sunday, 19 November 2023 21:26 (two years ago)
Man, what a great group of tunes. It's not even my favorite necessarily, but I went with Another One Bites the Dust because I think it's underrated, and unless I'm wrong it's the only one of those songs that the Detroit Lions covered.

Hurts to choose between "A Forest" and "Ace of Spades"
― papal hotwife (milo z), Monday, 20 November 2023 01:32 (two years ago)
Toss up between Bowie, Joe Jackson and Dexys for me.
― bookmarkflaglink (Darin), Monday, 20 November 2023 01:57 (two years ago)
Never thought I would have to choose between "Celebration" and "It's Different for Girls." Both so absolutely ingrained in my mind and heart, but for such different reasons and with such different emotional valences. I must go off and think.

Gap Band, baby
― a very very unfair (Neanderthal), Monday, 20 November 2023 18:03 (two years ago)
the gap band had some amazing songs (if that was 'outstanding' that would be my vote right there) but i really don't like that one
― blazin' squab (NickB), Monday, 20 November 2023 19:49 (two years ago)
Almost went with the Jam but ultimately voted for Bowie.
― birdistheword, Monday, 20 November 2023 22:23 (two years ago)
I too am of the "Ace of Spades" over "A Forest" camp.

― System, Monday, 27 November 2023 00:01 (two years ago)
I put “Ashes to Ashes” on my top 10 favorites of the ‘80s list so I can‘t not vote for it here. “Atomic” would be runner-up.
― Josefa, Monday, 27 November 2023 01:39 (two years ago)
voted "a forest" but there's plenty of great choices.

Antmusic is the best amd most fun song to play on chopsticks in an East Asian restaurant.
― Deflatormouse, Tuesday, 28 November 2023 01:05 (two years ago)
no wait that's Kings of the Wild Frontier
sad Another Nail in My Heart got nothing that would have been my second vote probably
― you can see me from westbury white horse, Tuesday, 28 November 2023 10:57 (two years ago)
there is only one weak song (and it's the last song anyway, so I can just pretend it isn't there)
...and it got one (inexplicable) vote! Unlike five or six great songs which got none.
