I like the new Valee a lot

it's good yeah, but i preferred the more freewheeling vacabularee album from last year, which used beats from his underground collaborators like ayochillman and kiltkarter. harry fraud is fine, a good person to call if you want to make an album with structure and an action bronson feature

i'm sure you posted about this album 2 years ago when it came out but i saw the whole deal of est gee walking out on cosmic kev's podcast so decided to check him out.

ended up listening to the recent collab album with 42 dugg....i found est gee to be a charmless oaf for the most part but 42 dugg really popped with a zany energy, reminded me of boosie in a way but obv different style

ended up listening to young & turnt 2 and enjoyed it quite a bit

there are a couple gee tapes tha are pretty good, mainly thinking 'i still don't feel nun' and the first 'bigger than life or death.' definitely humorless but appealingly steely-eyed with some great midwest production. the dugg collab tape was just ok, and everything he's done since then has been much less distinctive, with the beats from guys like enrgy replaced by wallpaper trap dudes who are friends with yo gotti and shoehorned features from guys like machine gun kelly

dugg is a great character and the rap game has been a little less fun since he went to jail.

he and babyface ray are a fantastic duo, responsible for a few of the very best street rap songs of this era

I love it! It reminds me of old bop-mixtapes or footwork-mixes, a relentless onslaught of a sound really not made for the long haul. The sound quality is horrendous as well at times, exactly like it should be. Best hiphop album of the year, maybe.

i hope the bluebucks & drakeo album (that i helped put together when i worked w/ them) eventually comes out. some really fun songs on there incl a few enrgy beats — well at least on the original tracklist. transcribing drakeo lyrics was one of most hysterically futile professional experiences of my life. long live the ruler

finally getting around to reading pitchfork's profile on the milwaukee rap scene, which introduced me to munch lauren. haven't dug deep, but i really liked his recent 'summer glaze' ep. the single, "shake it," is gaining regional traction. it's a joy, capturing some of that elusive energy found in only the best snap or hyphy
