I like these guys a lot. Still haven't heard the first album, but like the two I have heard and the live one a bunch. Looking forward to the new album.

xpost - Sorry Country Matters. I still haven't done my homework!
― Nate Carson, Wednesday, 5 August 2009 10:12 (sixteen years ago)
Ok I think they're abhorrent and listening to them gives me headache but I was watching their Wembley Stadium performance from a cpuple of years ago on tv and I'll admit they seem pretty good live, manage to sound very close and maybe better than they do on record.

Today is revive mediocre bands day to me.
― Moka, Wednesday, 3 November 2010 07:59 (fifteen years ago)
Widdly guitar arpeggios. Trying to pass off lyrics like "snowflakes melt into the ocean at midnight" as profound. Gets old fast.
― Les centimètres énigmatiques (snoball), Wednesday, 3 November 2010 09:22 (fifteen years ago)
I repped for them upthread but in hindsight "Stockholm Syndrome" turned out to be the only one I liked, the rest was piff.

Fuck you. (The band, not the article, which is accurate.)

A truer brand of torrid velveeta:

Jeez, I never realized until right now how badly Muse has been copying The The all these years.
― Austin, Thursday, 28 June 2012 02:50 (thirteen years ago)
xxp that's so bad, they could have got Vikings era Prince to do it and he'd have come up with something better. It starts off with some anonymous national anthem, then throws in the 'ha ha ha ha' bit from 'O Superman', then some sub-Queen lyrics and a guitar solo that sounds like Brian May in a washing machine. They must surely have written this as a piss take, right? Regardless of whether they did or not, this song is probably going to be played at the opening ceremony. To a TV audience of hundreds of millions. I guess maybe the organisers wanted something more stupid than Boris Johnson at the ceremony. We could probably get Muse to represent the UK in next year's Eurovision. They'll either win outright or lose and we'll be rid of them.
― Jeff Goldblum is watching you, pope! (snoball), Thursday, 28 June 2012 07:32 (thirteen years ago)
If the Olympics were held in Ireland and they got Jedward to do the official song, it'd be better than this.

So Muse were the only band dumb enough or neo-Liberal enough to actually buy the whole "play for free, no need to pay you, think of the exposure" line?
― White Chocolate Cheesecake, Thursday, 28 June 2012 08:35 (thirteen years ago)
ghastly
― TracerHandVEVO (Tracer Hand), Thursday, 28 June 2012 09:58 (thirteen years ago)
I guess that The Darkness turned down the offer because they didn't want to make themselves look stupid.
― Jeff Goldblum is watching you, pope! (snoball), Thursday, 28 June 2012 10:03 (thirteen years ago)
The Darkness could have done with that £250 though.
― owenf, Thursday, 28 June 2012 11:33 (thirteen years ago)
I didn't know spandex trousers were that expensive.
― Jeff Goldblum is watching you, pope! (snoball), Thursday, 28 June 2012 11:35 (thirteen years ago)
Hair club for men costs a bomb.
― White Chocolate Cheesecake, Thursday, 28 June 2012 11:37 (thirteen years ago)
Spandex doesn't grow on trees.... or does it?
― Too Busy Thinking About Mr. Abie (Tom D.), Thursday, 28 June 2012 11:37 (thirteen years ago)
This song is a bit Lloyd Webberish, I could imagine it as the music for Seb Coe: The Opera.
― gonna send him to outer space, to hug another face (NickB), Thursday, 28 June 2012 11:51 (thirteen years ago)
This is hilarious what's wrong with you all.
― Jesu swept (ledge), Thursday, 28 June 2012 12:08 (thirteen years ago)
Hilariously bad is still bad. OTOH I've realised that I've been subconsciously waiting over 20 years for a self important bombastic mess of a song that's even worse than Queen's 'Innuendo'.
― Jeff Goldblum is watching you, pope! (snoball), Thursday, 28 June 2012 12:10 (thirteen years ago)
Twitter reminds us: it could be worse. It could have been Coldplay.
― White Chocolate Cheesecake, Thursday, 28 June 2012 12:14 (thirteen years ago)
ledge otm
― goonrise zingdom (some dude), Thursday, 28 June 2012 12:15 (thirteen years ago)
I've listened to this abomination about half a dozen times now, because I can't believe it's so bad.
― Jeff Goldblum is watching you, pope! (snoball), Thursday, 28 June 2012 12:21 (thirteen years ago)
OK, I've finally got this to work on my mobile.
This is from their forthcoming light opera: Ayn Rand, The Musical, right?
― White Chocolate Cheesecake, Thursday, 28 June 2012 12:28 (thirteen years ago)
The guitar solo... will it never end?
― White Chocolate Cheesecake, Thursday, 28 June 2012 12:31 (thirteen years ago)
I keep waiting for The Drop, and then the "dubstep" bit to kick in. That's the only way they possibly could have this song even more of a too muchness.
― White Chocolate Cheesecake, Thursday, 28 June 2012 12:32 (thirteen years ago)

Muse asked to run Teignbridge District Council
I guess that Matt Bellamy's letter finally got through to the Jim'll Fix It production team.

You know they're just thinking 'ho ho ho, it looks like a cock!'.
― Jeremy Clarkson Sex Face (snoball), Sunday, 22 July 2012 18:16 (thirteen years ago)
Are all their most recent music videos still set in outer space like the early ones tended to
― Supper's Burnt (PaulTMA), Sunday, 22 July 2012 18:42 (thirteen years ago)
Literally the worst band in the world.
― I'm Going to Bring a Watermelon to Mark Grout Tonight (Tom D.), Saturday, 20 February 2021 12:21 (five years ago)
Probably but like Roy Chubby Brown you have to go out of your way to hear their music now.
― Being cheap is expensive (snoball), Saturday, 20 February 2021 13:41 (five years ago)
There was like two hours of it on Sky Arts last night. Hence the revive.
― I'm Going to Bring a Watermelon to Mark Grout Tonight (Tom D.), Saturday, 20 February 2021 15:19 (five years ago)
Another reason to not subscribe to Sky.
― Being cheap is expensive (snoball), Saturday, 20 February 2021 15:33 (five years ago)
It's been on Freeview for a while - at least where I am. You're not missing much though.

― Being cheap is expensive (snoball), Saturday, 20 February 2021 16:11 (five years ago)
It seems to be mostly cheaply made 30 minute "Then she made this movie" documentaries on various film stars, with Derek Malcolm - who I assumed was dead after watching some of these, he looks so frail - and various other talking heads.
― I'm Going to Bring a Watermelon to Mark Grout Tonight (Tom D.), Saturday, 20 February 2021 16:18 (five years ago)
Wait is Derek Malcom not dead?
Tbf to Sky Middle Aged Dad Music there is about 5% actually decent content
Maybe not 5
― The Scampo Fell to Earth (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 20 February 2021 16:19 (five years ago)
Apparently still alive! 88!
― I'm Going to Bring a Watermelon to Mark Grout Tonight (Tom D.), Saturday, 20 February 2021 16:20 (five years ago)
I thought Matt Bellamy looked like a wanker before but ffs:https://www.mansonguitarworks.com/media/mageplaza/blog/post/8/6/86844_0_wide_ver1551312038.jpgHis sartorial style is a cross between Bono, Kanye West, and the singer from Maroon 5.
― Being cheap is expensive (snoball), Saturday, 20 February 2021 16:34 (five years ago)
Bit of Mark King in there imo except Mark King made good records
