(For) The Craft: Music From The Motion Picture...The tracks in film, titled "Sick Child", "Fallin'" and "Scorn", performed by Siouxsie and the Banshees, Connie Francis and Portishead, respectively, were omitted from the soundtrack due to copyright issues from their record labels. However, they were only included in the film as part of an arrangement with PolyGram Film & Television Licensing. An uncredited bonus track, "Bells, Books, and Candles", composed by Graeme Revell for the film's score, was included on the soundtrack.

The Letters To Cleo track is nice--they even brought in Greg Hawkes for keyboards!

One of the first bands I wrote about for Alternative Press, and my first time leaving the country for a story; the label flew me and a publicist to Toronto.

xp Morphine placement reminds me about 1994 indie film Spanking the Monkey, which used several of their tracks (and was the first time I encountered the band).

Senior Trip is still the first thing I always think of Renner in. He IS D’Agostino.

Matt Frewer delivers every line with such conviction.

Some of those Senior Trip bands* sound like they came from a '90s Band Name Generator'...'Daisyhaze'? 'Shoveljerk'?

oh there were many of these hiphop/r+b instances. i was just posting about outkast's contribution to the nothing to lose album. "high school high" was always a big favorite for me and yeah: not a great film and one of those instances where it almost felt like the film was created to promote the soundtrack. with so much `90s revival` talk, how has the "bohemian rhapsody" cover not gotten a second life?

others in that style:
the show

rhyme & reason
bad boys

...and so many more.

Seems like a lot of the R&B/Hip Hop soundtracks weren't as transparently junky and cynically constructed as the Rock ones.

Jon Lovitz’s radio presets changing the second he approaches the border of the “inner city” in High School High never fails to amuse me.

The Clueless soundtrack is mentioned several times ITT, but worth noting that it went platinum and had three(?) original singles… two of which were (good) covers of ‘70s/‘80s songs, and one of which was Jill Sobule’s “Supermodel.” I think the acoustic Radiohead song may also be exclusive, but not sure.

Apparently the head of Capitol let them put No Doubt’s “Just a Girl” in the movie, but not on the soundtrack… that song, and the band, blew up a few months later.

Not too weird for a Coyote Ugly-type bar. Also, a bit further South maybe, you would have heard Dr. Dre, Alan Jackson, and "November Rain," likely back to back to back.
