eight months pass...

so anyone dig the locussolus ep? I like the slower b-side, which has some sweet guitar playing.

mizzell, Tuesday, 27 April 2010 18:53 (sixteen years ago)

^ya, i'm not huge on the a-side but "little boots" is pretty great. is he officially associated with this new 'international feel' label? because all of their other releases have been excellent so far, including that rocha 12" from last year, the "woman of candy" one-sided thing, and a bunch of upcoming, unreleased stuff too. looks like the guys from quiet village are putting something out on the label- under the pseudonym 'maxxi & zeus'- that sounds like awesome ambient balearica based on the samples. also some edits, including something they did to klaus schulze's "tango-saty"- you can hear most of these on the if soundcloud page

a lagoon par la mer (psychgawsple), Tuesday, 27 April 2010 21:04 (sixteen years ago)

i remember him saying he was frustrated that nobody could get a copy of the releases on whatever we want, so looks like this could just be a widely-distributed version of weww. which sounds great to me.

a lagoon par la mer (psychgawsple), Tuesday, 27 April 2010 21:08 (sixteen years ago)

three months pass...

i've been jamming a bunch of the international feel stuff today. Rocha, Hungry Ghost's Illuminations, Still Going remix of Coyote's Moving are all good.

mizzell, Thursday, 5 August 2010 18:00 (fifteen years ago)

sonic disco #1-3 are getting a re-release iirc

, Thursday, 5 August 2010 18:10 (fifteen years ago)

yea that new rocha single is great, esp the welcome stranger/thomas bullock remix. i'm actually down with most everything i've heard on the label, including the other two mizzell mentioned. "woman of candy" is HUGE

a lagoon par la mer (psychgawsple), Thursday, 5 August 2010 19:32 (fifteen years ago)

actually, to qualify- the new loccussolus track on the kenji takimi beats in space didn't do much for me. nor did the laughing light of plenty track after it, tbh

a lagoon par la mer (psychgawsple), Thursday, 5 August 2010 19:44 (fifteen years ago)

seven months pass...

saw him last nite

timbo slice (D-40), Saturday, 2 April 2011 20:39 (fifteen years ago)

i think he dropped this
http://mp3skyline.com/rid-0x1bac2-house-arrest_-_version-1.0--ha001--mp3-download.html (the 2nd track)

timbo slice (D-40), Saturday, 2 April 2011 20:44 (fifteen years ago)

it was some rmx of that song anyway

timbo slice (D-40), Saturday, 2 April 2011 20:45 (fifteen years ago)

is it worth driving 700 miles to see him

I'm totally kidding. Congrats strangers. (Matt P), Saturday, 2 April 2011 21:24 (fifteen years ago)

i think harvey is one of those djs that u never what u were going to get. or i should say you can know what you are going to get but its going to be contextual. i personally prefer his sarcastic parties where he plays for 10 hours and drops everything underneath the sun. in a club setting ive heard him drop house all night with a few italo tracks. it was cool but was nothing like seeing him drop e2-e4 as the sun is coming up in santa cruz.

oscar, Saturday, 2 April 2011 22:10 (fifteen years ago)

yeah i'd drive 700 miles to go to a sarcastic party

gr8080, Saturday, 2 April 2011 22:54 (fifteen years ago)

I want that Linstrom & Prins Thomas remix of Locussolus SO MUCH

the pussy/butthole addendum (jamescobo), Monday, 11 April 2011 21:24 (fifteen years ago)

anyone see him in SF last weekend? & how was it?

one time gaffled 'em up (one time), Monday, 11 April 2011 23:56 (fifteen years ago)

dmr, Tuesday, 12 April 2011 00:53 (fifteen years ago)

i obsessed over finding it back in 06 after hearing it on that rub n tug mix

i called every record store in chicago asking if they had the original cause i didn't know about the cole medina edit. then found it the next day while looking for something else.

Oink Administrator (gr8080), Tuesday, 12 April 2011 01:42 (fifteen years ago)

I know I saw it at least once at Turntablelab but didn't know what it sounded like until later. It's pretty nondescript looking.

dmr, Tuesday, 12 April 2011 02:07 (fifteen years ago)

one month passes...

Just listening to this DJ Harvey interview - http://www.residentadvisor.net/podcast-episode.aspx?exchange=41

Around 30 mins in. Him on homophobia and sexuality, just hilarious.

mmmm, Friday, 10 June 2011 10:26 (fifteen years ago)

He was just on Beats in Space this week, too, talkin about playing in Japan and why he doesn't play in London -

I always wondered why he never plays London. Gonna listen and find out. I see it as a personal slur.

owenf, Friday, 10 June 2011 10:40 (fifteen years ago)

It is!

40% chill and 100% negative (Tracer Hand), Friday, 10 June 2011 10:48 (fifteen years ago)

lol at 'we're all dj's here'

owenf, Friday, 10 June 2011 10:50 (fifteen years ago)

Im pretty sure he played at disco bloodbath back when it was still at visions. But he is spot on, a fun party is so rare here to the point that I only really enjoy myself at cafe bloody oto on my own

straightola, Friday, 10 June 2011 16:39 (fifteen years ago)

Didn't get to see him when visions was still a thing. I know he spent a lot of time in the states in order to deal with visa/residency stuff.

a fun party is so rare

so true, there's been nothing for ages that's excited me in these parts.

owenf, Friday, 10 June 2011 16:55 (fifteen years ago)

i went to a few disco bloodbath parties at visions but i never heard abt him playing...

just sayin, Friday, 10 June 2011 17:17 (fifteen years ago)

He was just on Beats in Space this week, too, talkin about playing in Japan and why he doesn't play in London

"They know everything I'm involved in over there, you go into a shop in Japan and there's this box, 'RECORDS DJ HARVEY PLAYED LAST WEEK' and another box 'RECORDS DJ HARVEY WILL PLAY NEXT WEEK.'"

dmr, Thursday, 16 June 2011 19:21 (fourteen years ago)

i loled so hard at that in front of strangers at the gym

gr8080, Thursday, 16 June 2011 20:17 (fourteen years ago)

haha. I almost loled at work listening to it just now.

"Well I'd better pick some of these up then!"

so awesome, thanks for posting

gr8080, Monday, 20 June 2011 22:16 (fourteen years ago)

I saw him play after Aeroplane at one of the Rhonda parties last year - it wasn't that great but I would imagine his stuff would go down about 100000000000x better in a smaller setting

XBOX BING GOATSE (jamescobo), Monday, 20 June 2011 22:36 (fourteen years ago)

i was at that party! so was ilx poster san frandisco.

i snuck backstage and surprised him right before he went on.

sound system at that venue is one of the best i've ever heard, but yeah he's more fun in a more intimate setting

gr8080, Tuesday, 21 June 2011 01:05 (fourteen years ago)

i know ppl are sorta lukewarm on the locussolus album but i for one am willing to rep for it, i think the only seriously bad tracks are that andrew weatherall remix and "throwdown". that 20 min emperor machine remix is really pretty fucking great spacey/beardy disco, it might be the only thing i hadn't heard before but it was well worth the price of admission imo

a lagoon par la mer (psychgawsple), Tuesday, 21 June 2011 05:09 (fourteen years ago)

so is the Soul Clap remix still unreleased aside from showing up on the DJ KiCKS mix?

gr8080, Wednesday, 22 June 2011 02:26 (fourteen years ago)

it's out

dancing on the jetty (euphemism) (haitch), Wednesday, 22 June 2011 02:42 (fourteen years ago)

whoops wrong soul clap + harvey thing! soz

dancing on the jetty (euphemism) (haitch), Wednesday, 22 June 2011 02:44 (fourteen years ago)

thanks though, i didnt know about that!

gr8080, Wednesday, 22 June 2011 02:46 (fourteen years ago)

xposts

the main thing I remember from that Rhonda show (other than the place going nuts for the Swiss' "Bubble Bath") was seeing some kid running around dressed up like Hitler

XBOX BING GOATSE (jamescobo), Wednesday, 22 June 2011 03:47 (fourteen years ago)

well that and the venue being UNBELIEVABLE

XBOX BING GOATSE (jamescobo), Wednesday, 22 June 2011 03:47 (fourteen years ago)

yeah that venue was awesome. insane multi-room VIP area w/ craze shit going on too

gr8080, Wednesday, 22 June 2011 03:49 (fourteen years ago)
